one small step

Okay..just had to tell someone about my small accomplishment. I kicked my husband out last tuesday..he showed up saturday morning wanting to talk.So i let him in and we had a long discussion on his problem.I told him he could come back but don`t he dare drink here or come home after he`s been drinking.I`ve said this before but I`ve never stood behind it.Well today(sunday) he goes to his side job and I stay home with the kids. I just got paid so I called him and offered to take him out to dinner so we made plans for a good evening. He came home with that all too familiar attitude, look, and SMELL. I am proud to say that he is gone!! I told him to get out !! I know that`s silly but just a month ago I would have just ignored his drinking and pretended to believe him when he said he "swears to god" he wasn`t drinking.

Thanks for listening

Allison

Allison,

First of all welcome to the Board (& we have mtgs twice a day in the chat room, tonight @ 7 pm EST).

CONGRADULATIONS!!! Making a boundary & sticking to it, is hardest in the beginning, the first time.  It gets easier, just like "practise makes perfect," the more you do it it will become easier.

Living with an active A is difficult, impossible & soul sucking.

What you did was HUGE!  That is great!  Setting boundaries are what we have to do, to survive for ourselves.  I am proud of you & hope you feel good about it too.  Do something great for yourself, you deserve it!

love, -K

I hope you feel very proud of yourself.  It is hard to make boundaries and enforce them.  It feels good when we do it though.  Way to go!!!  Keep up the good work.  You will find yourseld becoming stronger.

That doesn't sound silly at all.... sounds to me like you made a boundary, he crossed it, and you enforced it!!!  Well done!!!
