Welcome!  The first gift of Al-Anon I received was realizing I am not alone.  There are many different stories, but we all share the same ground.  And, in continuing to be a part of Al-Anon I have learned to take care of me, to build a wonderful "toolbox" of ways to make life better, with or without a user in my life.

There are meetings held on-line here, however I find my local/hometown meetings with Al-Anon very supportive and uplifting in a different way.  Might be a little scary at first to consider, and I know many, to include myself, that felt the same way about going to a meeting for the first time.  But I can say that it was worth that step!

Welcome, and I hope you will find a lot of love, experience, and hope from the members here...  THere is a wide variety of experience that you can draw from, and I would encourage you to reach out - try posting your story, or particular questions here if you are open to that....  Try to get to face-to-face Al-Anon meetings....  We can't help your husband stop drinking, but YOUR recovery program can still help you.....

Take care

Tom

First off Welcome,  This is a great starting point.  I would agree with Tom, find a group meeting that you can attend face to face.  Alanon has alot to offer if you are willing to accept it.  My ex is an active A and even though he does not want or better yet thinks he needs help, I knew that my life had become unmanagable.  Alanon was like an underground thing....  I never knew of it and when I found it, I jumped for joy knowing that I was NOT alone and that every time I tell my storey someone can relate and someone will listen and someone will encourage me to continue walking forward.

Keep coming back, read, listen and share.

Your worth it.

You are already on the right track when you say you need advice on how to help yourself.  If you can get to a face-to-face meeting, that would be helpful too.  I find I tend to need all the help I can get.  Anyway, welcome!  You are in the right place; keep coming back.

Hi, good job in getting the courage to reach out!!!!  I went to my first Al-Anon meeting last March.  It took more courage to walk into that room than just about anything I've done.  THe VERY BEST thing I've ever done.  I hate to think where I would be today had I not taken that step.  I have friends their like none I've had before.  Good luck.  Keep coming back.  Mike
