~~The Ideal Sponsor~~
From what I've learned in Al-Anon, certain physical attributes would be very helpful to become the ideal sponsor of a newcomer.
Big ears would help us listen, listen, listen to the newcomer. Then strong teeth are needed to bite our tongue and prevent us from giving advice. Other useful features are a big hand for patting the newcomer on teh back, a good dialing finger for telephoning newcomers, a strong arm for carrying literature to read and pass on.
The sponsor needs a small neck and nose, so as not to stick the neck out or to stick the nose in others' family matters. The mouth should be big enough for smiling and sharing, but not for gossip.
Big eyes are needed for reading literature and keeping an eye on our own growth. Last but not least, the sponsor needs a big heart that shows, so all can see the love that's found in Al-Anon.
