The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
We are working on bringing our Step Work Board to the forefront of this site again. This is where newcomers can learn about each of the 12 steps and old timers can share their experience, strength and hope related to them.
This week we are starting with Step 1. Imagine that! :)
I would truly appreciate everyone consider making this a place to stop in, post related to the current step or reply to the post of others as you venture to and from this main Group board.
Each Group will have a Step Chairperson who, on a weekly basis will quote some conference approved literature related to the current step being addressed, share their own experience, strength and hope in relation to that step, and then the thread is open for all group members to share their own experience related to that step.
***We currently have Chairpersons for the AA and Al-Anon portion of the Step Work Board, and are looking for qualified chairperson's for the ACoA, CoDa, and NA groups portions. Also, we would like to have alternative chairpersons who are willing to step in and help their groups chairperson if for any reason they cannot post the current weeks step material, and assist in replying regularly to the post and replies of others.
If you have the willingness, and ability to be of service at this level, your committment to doing this piece of weekly service work would be greatly appreicated. To volunteer, please go to the step work board, simply review how it is being done by others, and then send me a private message on the Step Work Board. While we try to suggest a basic formate outline, we want each chairperson to bring their personal flavor to the board, so that it is attractive to it's users.
C'on over to the Step Work Board now and reply related to Step One under the group you are aligned with. All links on this post will open the Step Work Board in a new window and this window will stay open in the back ground. So, you can come right back here and continue reading and posting! :)
Yours in the Spirit of Recovery,
John

I tried to register for the Step Work Board but each time I get an error saying Problem Loading Page.
Is there a way to condense each of the groups into sub headings, because I've found it frustrating to scroll through the board just to find Step 1 for Al-Anon..maybe make step 1 for each group a Sticky? if that makes sense....thanks.
Yes thank you Gail for the information on getting into the 12 step forum, didn't know it was a re register. I just used the same nickname and password as the other forum.
good that you have it here...i discovered some time ago that i have not worked with steps in al anon at all...however in another 12 step groups i am...not sure when i find time for step work in al anon...
I am new here too, and very glad to have found this site. I have been through the 12 steps before, but desperately need a refresher course! Thank you all for being here

Welcome .. Personally I think the best book to start with is How Alanon Works. You can get a paperback copy for 5$ give or take some change. It's Alanons version of the big blue book in AA. it has tremendous information and is a great first read. The other book I have found value in is Getting them Sober by Toby rice drew if I didn't mix the name up Lol. That is not Alanon lit however should be. Hugs and glad you are here!

My absolute favorites/go-to's are the daily readers (One Day at a Time in Al Anon & Courage to Change). They have imparted a great amount of wisdom & calmness/serenity to me. I love that the 12 steps are published right in the back of each book for easy reference. (My bookmark is "Just for Today" - love it.)
After those, I purchased the Al Anon big blue book titled: How Al Anon Works for Families and Friends of Alcoholics. It is filled with wonderful insights into the steps, and encouraging, hopeful, strengthening stories of real people who are/have walked the walk.
