Happy Friday, I came in to work extremely late today. I am doing really good. I was really stressed about sending my mortgage payment, was short some, we are buying from owner and I have never had to send partial payment before and I wanted a wireless router for my home comps, keep putting it off because we can live without it, but yesterday I just let go and asked my HP to help me cope. So this morning when I stopped to buy cigs, I thought I probably shouldn't buy any scratch tickets but I bought two....a Slingo ticket and then an UNO ticket. Went over to Mom's was sitting there thinking and visiting, then realized I hadn't scratched my tickets. Scratched the the Slingo and won $3.00, right on I thought, I broke even....then scratched the UNO ticket...hmmmmm this can't be right $500...no way! Had my mom check it, she didn't know how the ticket worked, had my son check it...he said...it looks like you won....hmmmmm we better just check at the store before I get all excited about nothing. So we leave and stop at a little store, they don't do scratch tickets.....damn and now we have to get to my son's drive test.....so we go there, he failed and we scheduled another one....okay off to Albertsons, wait in line and then the lady sticks my ticket in, it says PLAYER WINS $500, she looks at the machine, then at me, then back at the machine....she says "I don't know if I have that in my drawer?" hmmmmmmmm I say...you better call someone then...so I went from there to Best Buy bought my wireless router and then took the boy home and came to work, can pay my mortgage payment and have Chinese for dinner!!!! AND my husband may take me to the movies this weekend!!!!! Yeah!!!!! All in all a good day so far.....
I had a scratch n' win ticket the other day, and had left it on the counter for several days.... One of my kids asked me if they could scratch it, and I told her "not yet.... I'm waiting for the right time, and the right frame of mind" (lol). Well, even my 9-year old told me - Dad, it either is a winner, or it isn't!! So we scratched it together, and it wasn't..... But we were still smiling ear to ear...
Way to go on your big win....
Tom

Mary, you never know...I am happy to hear you had a good Friday and a little cash came your way. I had a wonderful little part-time job in Dover, Delaware, which is my home town. I worked in a newsstand, and we sold lottery tickets. I would purchase one once in a while, and never won a single dime...LOL! My older son, however, bought a power ball ticket about 5 years ago; first lottery ticket he ever purchased, and won himself $40,500,000!!! It would have been more, but there were some other winners. After taxes, he opted for the one-time payoff, and got, I think around $23,000,000. The first thing he did was pay off my mortgage, buy his brother and sister-in-law their dream home, himself his art gallery, a home in Seattle and one in New Orleans; his two favorite places. (The New Orleans home, which is in the Garden District, emerged unscathed after the storms, but with N.O. devastated, it will be a while before he goes back.) He invested the rest. It is somehow comforting to know that my son will never want for money. He is an artist and leads a Bohemian life-style, requiring little in the way of material things. I thought he would never really have anything until I die off because his art is more important to him than anything else, but HEY!!. Life's a great thing. Sometimes we win; sometimes we don't. But it is still worth living!!!
Best wishes, Diva
