Update/ Week One / Vehicle Situation

Friends,

Thanks for your posts.  They inspire me & help me thru the day!  Just an update re the vehicle situation.  I'm driving the Blazer my husband gave me.  He gave me the title with it (I've already signed off on it so there can be no "take backs").    So it's free and clear in my name.

I heard back from the mechanic re my van -- he said it's fixed (a part of the wiring harness was fried) but to not be surprised if there are future breakdowns because the whole wiring harness is about shot.

When I talked to my husband last nite re him getting my daughter's car to sell, I told him that I didn't think it was fair that he was going to sell it and pocket the money (even though he was replacing it with a better vehicle for both of us).   She paid for the car with her money, and I think that she should have a say-so re. her car.  Of course he thought I was crazy for thinking that, but I feel that she's been dealt enough blows lately with him moving out, etc.   She told me tonite that it's my fault that we always had crappy vehicles, I let him get away with it.  I told her that's not quite fair, he's only been moved for a week, and should I be driving a cadillac already?

Anyways...  He finally agreed that she could have the money after her car is sold (more guilt coming out).  So I think I should sell the crappy $700 van, sell her crappy $300 car & pool the money & get her a $1000 car.  Hey!  Maybe that would work!  Some of you may be saying, it will still be a crappy car for $1000.  But she's 17, just starting out driving, so I think it would be right down her alley.  I haven't approached her (or my A) with this plan yet, they're both pretty ouchy right now re. the car situation.

Thanks for you thoughts re the titles, etc.  Her car was my 1st independent "big" decision on my own, obviously not a great one on my part!  But baby steps...  My cadillac may be on its way yet!  LOL!!!    I'm to the point that I look at cars like people:  It doesn't matter what they look like on the outside, but what's on the inside and how well they "run" that REALLY matters!

Still workin' on me!

Hey! The vehicle I am now driving, at the age of 47, is my first that is worth more than $1000 ($4500 to be exact) (and, that's in Canadian dollars!) I've never even been IN a new car.
