I can be SO HARD on myself!!

I needed to post this...

I have terrible PMS, I mean Fried Green Tomatoes type PMS, followed by nasty nasty cycles, and finished up with a terrible low....

Right now I am in a terrible low, waiting for the hammer to drop so to speak.  I also live with an active Alcoholic, but think that everything there is okay.  He has respected all my boundaries, and been wonderful...

I have been really hard on myself regarding the upkeep of my house.  What tools have you people found sucessfull to help keep you out of this damn self pity pot and self torture?  Does anyone else relate to the crazy hormonal changes?  I tell you, it is no wonder that my hubby is still an active A, I take the cake on him...lol

Ya know I started taking an over the counter mood stablizer, I am finding as I get older I get moodier...LOL I bet after menapause will be great, I have never met a MEAN GRANDMA...LOL The other thing I have had to do was to accept there is only so many hours in a day, when I feel overwhelmed I write down what absolutley has to be done, usually I can make my list of a hundred that is in my head down to two or three things.  Tomorrow is another day and if I am given the gift of being here tomorrow so will all the chores.  Hang in there and be gentle with yourself.  Sometimes we get so busy doing everything that needs to get done that we don't have any time for ourselves....do something nice for you!!!!

LOL Mary!  You know, you make it sound so simple...tee hee.  I am the type of person that is gonna justify every ounce of experience you wrote down there and discard it as "won't work for me..."

I am so bad that way. See, if I was to do a list of what needed to be done, then I would forget something, and some things need to be done in order to complete others yadda yadda yadda.... know what I mean...

I am so glad you replied, however, I was hoping that nobody found help with anything but a historectimy (or however you spell it)  I was looking for an excuse to get hospitalized, have my husband do my job and his job, maybe get some gratitude for what I have been doing..... and wanted the world to feel sorry for me.....

Yikes, do I ever sound dysfunctional....

For me, I need to get outside. I think I may have SAD - that thing where you get moody and unhappy if you don't get enough light.
If the curtains are closed and I have to spend the day inside - watch out! I think long walks - even in the winter (I live on the Canadian Praries) even if it is really cold out - have saved my life and the lives of those around me!

Hi Captn are you getting exercise? i know it isn't alluring when you are down, but if I can make myself exercise to the point of gasping,  backing down a bit, and continuing for about half an hour, the rest of my whole day is much better. Probably just in shock I made it work. Probably behaving so I don't make it work again. There are all sorts of rewards for it, but getting myself back, kicking the gloomy moster out, is the best for me.

Mmy other technique is to keep my cleaning lady. I have had times I couldn't afford someone to clean house, let her go, and then I couldn't ever feel like I could do anything enjoyable because the house always needed to be cleaned. I go without a lot to keep the cleaning lady. At times, I have bartered with a neighbor for cleaning. I know what I enjoy. I enjoy my house if someone else does the hard cleaning, and I'm willing to work overtime, take a 2nd job, babysit, etc. (My husband hates cleaning the house even more than I). take care-- Jill

i too suffer from extreme pms and know exactly how you feel. i cant really offer you any advice i just stay away from those that i love to avoid saying or doing anything that could hurt them. i know i dont mean to act crazy but sometimes just cant help it. i just dont put those around me through the crap i am feeling because i know in a few days i will be back to normal. as for those i cant avoid (such as my a )  i warn him ahead of time to ignore me and my demands and yelling and dont set me off. he's gotten good with this. knows when the time is near and knows to back off. when it's that time for me all i want is to be alone and it is perfect because i get the me time once a month.  just wanted you to know your not alone

Ladies,

Hate on me if you want!  I had a hysterectomy last year, so goodbye PMS!  Hello hot flashes!  But guess what?  My house still isn't clean!

Do what you can, the rest will wait on you!  LOL

Thanks for the smiles....

Got out and took the kids to the park yesterday, and raced them home, what a good idea....

I wish I could convince my body to excercise regularly....

How weird!  I was just going to ask anyone else if they suffer from PMS like I do!!  I tend to be very irritable, moody, LAZY, etc also.  Two whole weeks before I get my period I start slacking off and good luck if you get dinner and a clean house three days before!  It really sucks because I am only "myself"  for about a week and a half out of the month.  I do take an anti-depressant for it but I have also started taking calcium with vitamin D and B vitamins and it seems to be helping??????  The anti-depressant can make me even more lethargic, but i have gotten in the habit of walking a lot.  But the week before, FORGET IT.  I totally understand and I have also noticed since getting older it getting longer and more severe.  Strange.  If anyone knows anything that their doctor has found or given suggestions about PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

THANKS TO ALL FOR BEING HERE

Love Julie
