Reading The Dilemma of the Alcoholic Marriage...

I have been married to an A for almost three years now.  I love him so much.  At first I was one of his biggest enablers with all the feelings that go along with that....  I have come so far and I just love this book I am reading....  It described our marriage to a T.  I highly recommend it and would appreciate any comments anyone else has on this book.   Thanks so much.

Yes Tara, I also loved that book, and got a lot of valuable information from it...  It was quite enlightening to see that my fears & concerns were pretty evident in so many other cases as well....  I found the same thing when I read "Getting Them Sober" books, particularly volume one.

Take care

Tom

Hi Tara.

I have read, re-read, analyzed, studied, even ripped the damn thing up!  Isn't that book so darn accurate???  Every word in that book is what I waited to hear.  I was so releived to read the book, because I was glad that I was not totally Kooky, however, i was pissed off that my situation was not unique.  Reading The Dilema made me come to the understanding that I caused as much of the greif as my hubby did!

I also used The Dilema of the Alcoholic Marraige as a shoe in for discussion with my own family.  I feel like I am the first one to discover that alcoholism is a disease, and that these people need support, and that book has been a great reference for me.

I am glad you posted about that book.  That is something this site prospers well on is discussing CAL (conference Approved Literature) that ALL members can get a hold on...

(By the way, if you are interested in purchasing that book, or any other Alanon Conference Approved Literature, be sure to check out http://www.12stepforums.net/books.html

You can also get most alanon books from your public library. For me, it was very liberating to walk in there baldfaced and take out a book about living with an A. (as if everybody in town didn't know anyway, with his car parked in front of the bar for hours and hours every day....)
