thank you all for putting up with me this last month!
I found another healthy obsession this town has...gardening. Someone I knew from a meeting introduced me to the area called Ladd's Addition. There is one main garden, with four subordinate, seperate ones. Roses and rhododendrons feature prominently. The homeowners in the area have identical yards, which are planted anything but identically, with everything from hedges to Japanese gardens, to evergreens. Some yards just have plants on the edges. Great stuff! The Mt. Tabor meeting was awesome too :)
With my county library closed, I have to find other resources. Right now I'm in Lake Oswego, a long way from where I park. A pretty little town it is. I will have lunch here, then try to get access at Portland Community College, then later at Beaverton (all along the 78 bus line). Last but not least, find a nice place to watch some (what else?) Monday night football.
The immediate emotional crisis seems to have passed and I can calm down a bit. I am still discovering food and other resources, which will help in the long run. Now that I have my residency, I can go back and apply for jobs that I couldn't before. I can now focus on catching up with job search and writing thank you notes to relatives as I get to them. It may take me some time to find particular addresses; otherwise I will just have to say it...
