As Monday is a US holiday, I may not be online at all that day.

The bronchitis is still hangin around and probably will al weekend; must be the early morning chill.

I did talk with my mother yesterday, and her meds were indeed mixed up. Trouble is mum is legally blind and some of the pills look too much alike. The nurse came round and put that right.

As promised, I have a few Wack Ass Cultural Observations to share:

Portland is all about alternative transortation; they try to discourage use of cars as much as possible. As you might imagine, life is harder for pedestrians. We have to watch out for bladers, boarders and bikers (both bicycle and motorcycle) as well as cars.

It's no surprise that the grunge look is very prominent here with Seattle 3 hours north. The tattoo work is exquisite. There aren't enough people with the 80's style hair colors and arrangements--as they're not styles I won't call them that.

I have gone from Cincinnati's emphasis on canned/jarred food to freshly prepared and produce-dominated food. Produce is truly king here; I've seen more and more varied types of it here than anywhere else. Sorry, Jungle Jim (Ohio's produce king), better come out here and see some real produce! Tomorrow's farmer's market downtown should produce some very interesting follow-up.

Sports related clothes are pretty much limited to baseball and football. Golf is big here, NASCAR and rugby are virtually nonexistent. I have to pick a northwestern team to follow; I will likely pick Portland State or Oregon.

Should I land an apartment, I will likely pick the renewable power option if it isn't too expensive. Still need a job tho. The search will just have to wait until after the holiday so I can try to recover from the bronchitis. I need to find a low cost gym here too so I can deal with hygeine issues without having to use the free (and dangerous) showers.

I haven't had any libido since i moved. Good riddance. As i haven't earned enough currency for hugs yet, that's okay.

My time is up here at PSU ...

infinite gratitude to all...

Mike,

Your posts slay me.  I feel like I've sent my own private investigator who is allowing me to see this new part of the world through their eyes.  What a nice experience.

Bless you my friend,

Peggy7

Dear Mike,

hi (((Haxi)))  I hope it's the Saturday market under the Burnside bridge you're going to tomorrow. Check out the artisans. Enjoy the crowd. It's fun to hear your impressions. Take care and find some sunshine to help that bronchitis.

Jill

((((((((((((((Haxi)))))))))))))),

We will always have hugs for ya!

Good news about NASCAR (well not really, I am not to happyabout it) We are getting NASCAR in the northwest, ugh in my own backyard. I live across the water from Seattle, and the track is in the way.

Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Much Love,
