We finally heard from my Aunt Dot in Biloxi. She is alive (thank HP) but their home is totally gone. Her and her husband are stranded in a Walmart parking lot somewhere in FL about 100 miles from Biloxi. Their are no rooms to be had (hotels etc) and they slept in their van last night. Not sure if there is power where they are or not. She got through on her cell phone to my cousin, her daughter, for just a few min. before being cut off.
*sigh.. The bad part is, even though I'm so grateful she is alive, is that she needs a heart transplant. 8 months ago she had surgery to have a stent put in an artery. That procedure caused a stroke and she then had to have brain surgery, she also had a heart attack. For some reason, her Dr. and no one at the hospital told her, her heart had been so damagd from the heart attack. She had no idea.....because she was feeling very tired she went to a new Dr. last week, and in reviewing her records from the hospital told her. The records said she had 25% heart usage when she left the hospital, new tests showed 10% . She should have been on the transplant list all this time!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you say law suit?????? She was supposed to sign papers to get on the transplant list on Mon., which didn't happen because they had to evacuate. So it's just a real fragile situation. BTW, she's only 59 yrs old. She looks like she's in her 40's, and cute as a bug. It'd be hard to look at her and imagine there is such devistating stuff going on in her body.
So, for now that's all I know. I assume they can't get $$ from their ATM and don't know why they are stranded, I just know they are. Prayers would be so appreciated :)

((((((cjo)))))) so glad to hear Aunt and Uncle are okay! Homes can be replaced, lives cannot. Will pray that they both continue to remain safe and well. Been watching news coverage this morning - devastating pictures.

Special prayers for you Aunt in particular, and all those dealing with the havoc reached on them by mother-nature. Talk about a bad situation for you poor Aunt...UGH. Sending positive vibes her way!
You and your relatives have been on my mind since hearing they lived in Biloxi. So glad that they are safe and i hope she gets her transplant very soon. You keep your spirits up and know that you always have concerned friends only a keystoke away.
You and your relatives are in my prayers and have been since yesterday! Keep us updated please. cdb
God, be with all the survivors and workers and give them strength to work hard to help those that are still stranded and in need of help. Be with the workers and the government as they help the victims to start over with FEMA help. Be over the ones that are ill right now and keep them safe from harm and death. Be with all the small children and keep them safe and alive. May your guardian angels be over the entire area comforting and helping each and every person. God Bless us all, cdb
We've heard nothing more as cell phone communication is very limited.
My Uncle was employed at one of th casino's, I assume they will just to move and get the hell outta Dodge. No choice really. They have only lived in Biloxi for a couple of yrs. so there is no deep roots. They lived in Florida before that. I think they must have gotten the hint now to get away from the coast.
My parents left Florida and went back to Indiana this last summer. It only took one hurricane for them to make that decision. Their motorhome was rolled around like a leaf blowing in the wind, then it was looted. It was parked/stored in Punta Gorda at the time.
I'm trying to use all the slogans for myself that apply through this (and my daughter's situation)..and praying that not only my Aunt can survive this horrific catastrphy, but for all the people of the Gulf Coast.
