Hurricane Katrina

Well we survived the second landfall into Broward County Florida of Hurricane Katrina.  I really feel for those people in the gulf for the second landfall.  My "A" of course used the hurricane as a great excuse to get plastered.  And my mother said that her "A" did the same thing.  I guess it would be the perfect time.  We are stranded in our house, and he didnt have to go to work, and when a hurricane hits it's REALLY boring.  I always put on weight during a hurricane because I am constantly snacking ( there is nothing else to do) so I guess if I were an alcoholic I would be drinking the whole time.  And thats what my "A" did.  The first day, before it hit, he started at 8am.  By 2pm he had passed out for the first time.  He woke up at 5-6pm  and started again.  He got so drunk, he even spent the last part of the night outside.  Yeah OUTSIDE IN A HURRICANE.  Playing with candles and throwing up in the yard.  This was around 2am and, of course, I couldnt get any sleep because I was watching him from the window making sure he didnt fall and bust his head open or some flying debris didnt slam into him, if it did I wanted to be able to call 911 right away.  At one point after he threw up he fell and crawled to the cooler to get another beer.  INSANITY!!!!  Finally he passed out around 3-4am.  Oh and this whole time we didnt have any power.  And I am 25 weeks pregnant with our second and I need my sleep.  So I maybe got 3 straight hours that night and was it ever hot.  I cannot sleep when I'm hot like that.  Needless to say it was a night from HELL.  But nothing compared to what the people in the gulf are going through.  The next day I talked to my "A" about his health.  And that drinking like that is gonna cause some extreme damage to his body.  That our organs are not made to put up with that kind of abuse for long.  He has already been crapping blood, not a lot but blood is blood.  And the way he pukes up nothing but alcohol and then goes and grabs another drink, I'm suprised he has a stomach left.  I must have said something because he has taken a couple days off from drinking.  Thanks for listening everyone and take care.  Let's all pray for the people in the gulf that will be affected by Katrina.

kimmie,

I cannot imagine! Keep us posted. It just shows how powerful the disease of alcoholism is as it manifests itself in your A. To have a hurricane bear down and he seems oblivious. Hopefully you will be able to get some sleep and some help for yourself and your baby.

I can do without my higher power right now if you need any extra moral support.

In support,

Nancy

I hope that you will be able to take care of yourself and the baby through all of that stuff.  I pray that will will have some peace soon.  I will pray for your husband to get better so he can help you more and you won't have to miss your sleep time.

Good luck and ((((((((((()))))))))))))) to ya.

(((((((((((((Kimmie))))))))))))))),

Nothing about alcoholism makes sense to me. I have stopped trying to figure it all out.

I am glad that your family made it through this. Now get some much needed rest and take care of you.

Much Love,

Yeesh! ((Kimmie)),

Sounds like a nightmare. So sorry you are going though this, particularly while preg. This must be a very difficult time for you.
Blood in the stool can't be good. I don't suppose he'd see a Doctor?

As far as Katrina..I have an Aunt in Biloxi 3 blocks from the coast. I assume she evacuated. Problem is she has a very serious heart condition and needs a transplant.
Whatta day eh?

Prayers for you kimmie
Christy
