The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
I had a post here, but I guess it wasn't as beautiful as I thought it was. I don't want to post anything that makes anyone feel uneasy. I would not feel comfortable knowing that I posted somehing that is maybe harmful, and not good. In the future I will be more selective as to what I put on here that when it doesn't come from my own mind.
Sorry to those that I bothered. I will try not to let it happen again.
Much Love,

I have read it, but I don't have a copy of it with me at this moment, I thought that this was different, but along the same line as "The Letter from the Alcoholic".

I have reached the point where I accept that nothing I do or say will stop the drinking. Not being sweet, loving and understanding or being nasty and name calling. And you know we have tried both ways more than once--and does it help--NO!
They will drink and do drugs because they are addicts. We can't change that.
dolphin, I can appreciate your post . I can see that an alcoholic must have those thousands of masks to protct what is really there. As do we. Though I don't feel "I" can change the man or his inner doubts. I do feel loving compassion does have it's worth in their feeling safe enough to try for recovery if they so choose, be a jerk at times and feel they are still loved unconditionally.. Granted, their are A's that are abusive and down right nuts that reaching out and reassurance would have no purpose.. I did feel it gave some understanding of an alcoholic and the depths of their problem. For me, I can keep these things in mind as they are spelled out in your post and maybe not respond with anger sometime. Thanks Take what ya like, right? Christy

Dolphin, I think it was good food for thoughts. In posting my thoughts I didn't mean to negate yours. It got me to thinking, and that's good. Thanks for bringing it up. Jill
You brought a very good point, my worry was that a new comer might read that and get confused. There was a lot of good in the reading, but it was misleading.
