Jo4- A Ontarian - YEAH

Sun. Aug. 7/05

12:30 pm

Dear Jo,

Hi there fellow Ontarian.  Its nice to meet someone that lives close by.  Have you been in Al Anon long.  Is that group at Dundas & 10 - A.C.O.A.? Thats a long drive - is there nothing closer?

I belong to the Acton Wed Night Meeting.  Its a good group - long time members & newbies - nice mix.  I actually started Al Anon about 3 months ago.  I am a recovering A since Oct. 15/01.  My hubby is still very active.  We seperated when I went into Homewood to get sober.  Last Sept. he came over to talk and said he wanted to get back together.  We spent the next 2 months talking about it and all the issues.  # 1 issue for me was his drinking.  He said he would cut right back & everything else I wanted to hear.  We bought a house in Milton at end of Apr this year.  Things were good for about 6 weeks then he started up again.  We have talked about it and he tells the same old lies.  He has NO drinking problem - hes just a binge drinker.  Being an A, there is NO such thing. Alcoholic is Alcoholic PERIOD.  His binges last 24-7 most of the time.  There has been a major shake up at work ( long story) so he has been on a real bender.  The new bosses have been around all this past week so he has been sober most the time.  Last night the binge becan again.   YEAH.....

Anyway, I started going to Al Anon about June and have been learning alot.  Being a recovering A, I beat myself up for awhile because I should have know better - ya right.  I doesn't work that way.  Since going, I have become more at peace within myself and it feels good.  I have stoped argueing with him & that alone has made a hugh differance.

I suffer from depression and A.C.O.A.  Since we moved in together, I felt like I had gone back in time 4 years and nothing had changed.  One day, it was like God put his hand on my shoulder and said very quietly. " Go to an Alanon meeting".  I listened and went that day and have not looked back since.  Another 12 Step saves my like & sanity.

Maybe you could come to Acton on a Wed. night at 8:00 pm.  Or we could meet early at Timmys & have coffee.  My hubby is very tight with money so I don't travel much but maybe I could come down to your meeting too.

I hope that I haven't talked your ear off.  God Bless & I hope to hear from you soon.  Do you have MSN?  My e-mail & MSN are katamy1@hotmail.com.

Yours in Recovery
