The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
I apologize for the delay in sharing my "one-liner" list. I have a hole in my head.
Copy and paste them into a file on your desktop and share them often. They are life-savers when living with a diseased loved one. (interesting how the word "diseased" resembles the word "deceased" if you look to quickly at it.)
Here are the ones I have...please feel free to add your own:
You may be right.
Not guilty.
I'm sorry you feel that way.
I've been meaning to do that.
It probably seems that way to you.
You have a right to your opinion.
I should look into that.
Let me understand (repeat his or her statement word for word).
(When being criticized) Is there anything else? or What else bothers you?
That's a good point. Let me think about that.
NO!
I need-------------------------------- this from you.
Unfortunately, you're talking to the wrong person.
When you're finished, could you please show me your good side?
Hope this helps. Always keep the slogans, Courage to Change, One Day at Time and a meeting close at hand...and your life cannot not get better. That's the miracle of AL-Anon...it works as we work it!!
