I made it to my parent's cabin :)

Hello friends,

I am here in Canada and it is beautiful here! My daughter is still sleeping. Mom is golfing and dad is at the clubhouse. I posted about my trip here so far under Richard's post. I am so happy to be here with my daughter :) She hasn't been here since the year 2000. Before that we use to come here every year since she was a new born baby. I hope this trip is healing for her, my parents and me too. Since the year 2000, I have spent many summers here visiting, crying my eyes out over worry over my daughter thinking she was going to die. I had reason to believe that too with all she did while her disease was progressing over the past 5 years. I see how alot of it has truamitzed  me now. It has been a long ride. I feel so much healing now :) I feel alot of serenity now too. I hope you all can find some serenity today. If not for an hour, maybe for a minute. That is how my new found serenity started for me. One minute at a time. Hope to be back on chat on Friday. I can't get into the chatroom here. But that is okay. I need to be here in the moment with my parents, daughter, God and myself. Your friend in recovery, cdb :)

Isn't is great for you and your family. Aren't traditions great? I hope to go my mom's cabin in Colorado in July and just sit and be thankful for all my challenges.

Thank you all for your replies and your continued unconditional support in the alanon program. It sure helps me to work my program and deal with not only my alcoholic/drug addicted daughter but also all other aspects in my life (such as mom's alzheimers)

I am in Saskatchewan in the Moose Mountains near the town of Carlyle. I am close to Kenosee Lake. My parent's cottage is 7 miles south of Kenosee and on an Indian Reservation. It is called White Bear Lake or Carlyle Lake. My mom came here since she was a teenager. When my ganparents passed away my parents took ownership and modernized the cabin to an extent. My dad marshalls on the golf course and is their golf pro and gives lessons. He can no longer golf due to his congestive heart failure but seems happy still helping out with the golf course here. He gives free lessons to any kid and free lessons to the Indians here. My mom and dad have many friends here which I never realized until recently. My mom's friends must understand that her memory is bad and she can't do math anymore etc. Dad has not shared with them that she has alzheimers but it is evident she has something like dimentia. They seem very happy here. I will be spending a week here soon in about a week or so with my mom while my dad goes with my uncle to Arizona to move his furniture/belonging to ND where they will now live. They moved to ND to be closer to me (2hours away) with both their failing health.

We will be traveling somewhere in Saskatchewan this summer for a family reunion since my dad has family that are Canadians too. This cabin is 1and 1/2 hours north of the Canadian border in Saskatchewan but very near the Manitoba border. Hope this helped you Lin :)   cdb :)

Oh, you're pretty far south of me. I'm in Alberta, not far from the Saskatchewan border, but about halfway up the province.
It sounds like a lovely spot - Saskatchewan is a lot nicer than most people think.
