me and progress

Hi Everyone

I finally made it I am working on step two. I am happy that I made it. I have a long way to go but I finally moved up at step.

For my parents: My dad is an active a and he doesn't show any time of wanting to stop. He drinks alot of scotch. My mom is getting to the point where she wants him to go to a rehab or aa or she says she is going to leave. My father suffers from health problems. My mom and my dad went to Florida to see the problems that are wrong with him, one of the things he has to do is stop drinking and he is against that. Yesterday my mom brought up alittle that she was up set at his drinking but she brought it up when he had been drinking a while during the day. So I know that is the worst time to bring the subject up. I tried to help her by talking to him but he had closed up. I know there is nothing we can do unless he wants help. I told my mom to go back to Alanon but she doesn't want too.

For Me: I have been able to move to step two. And when things come up I try and not get that upset and I have been talking to God. I try and close my eyes and listen but it is very hard to do to stay still. I am trying really hard. I am trying to deal with changes but i have a hard time still but I am working on it.

For my husband: He is still not drinking which is great. He has friends that he talks to which is good. When he gets upset he doesn't stay upset that long.

For my marriage: I am having a better time with him now then I had when we first meet. So far so good.

For my sponosr: She has helped me alot and kepts me grounded. She does remind me that he could go back to drinking any time. I try not to think that way but it is true.

You are sounding good and I am glad for you that you are moving forward and things are better! It feels good when I notice more better days and I am feeling better myself.  Working the program has not been easy but it has been so rewarding! Like they say progress not perfection!!

Thanks for the share it is so nice to read/hear the progress!

Last night I was able to talk to my active husband in a kind loving manner with out blame and anger and he actually listened! had I attempted this a few months ago it would have ended in yelling and much hurt but thanks to the program and the tools that I have it was great and he listened.  I could tell he was moved by what I had to say and that he was really thinking about all I had to say!  When I approached him he had a few days sober under his belt and it was not the blame game but about me and the kids, the effects of alcoholism has caused us and the dammage that it is causing not what he is doing but the disease is doing.

Just wanted to share this with you because of what you mentioned about your dad.

Again glad to see that you are doing better!

Love JJ
