The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
This is a short paragraph from "In all our affairs...making crises work for you." It is about steps 4 and 5. I am sponsoring a member and this little paragraph helps to understand what these two steps are about.
"The Fourth Step, a searching and fearless moral inventory that examines our predicament, can help sort out our feelings, choices, and responsibilities. Vague projections of disaster can be identified and challenged. We may uncover behavior or attitudes that worked to our benefit in the past but no longer serve us. We honor ourselves when we take the time to look so deeply for our truth. When we take Step five and share what we have learned with another person as well as with our Higher Power, we demonstrate a willingness to change."
So many things in our lives have been motivated by fear. The fear of the alcoholic, of not having enough money, or of people finding out that we are not perfect families. The fourth step is a wonderful freeing exercise in discovering you. Yes, we will find character defects, but we will also find a person that can be loved and is worth loving. We will learn to accept ourselves for who we are, and not for what we think other people expect us to be.
Much Love and Joy to Everyone, SenoraBob
