I have been in a al anon program for 13 months and I have been helping my a with going to meeting all. Now I think that it is time for me to start working the program for me. In my area there is one meeting a week and I don't feel right in there so that is why I look online for a meeting room. I have been told to work the steps you need a d sponsor. I am looking for sponsor that will help me throw this program.
I have four kids, my bother live with us, and my husband is my a. I don't have much time for me with my kids because they are my life. I know that I will have to work on the step if I want them to work for me.
If there is anyone that is willing to give me a try please let me know.
Dear trish< I to posted to find an online sponsor and to no avail I did not get one from my post I came and listened and then found who I related to best and how long they had been and asked them and she willingly took me on. I love her to death she is great and Maybe that will work for you but if you do not find one keep the faith and HP will know who is right and when it is right and then you can ask. Sometimes it is better to be able to get to know someone a little and do the steps as best you can sometimes one step even two may take a long time. Hang in and dont give up and without a sponsor we are all here for you anytime take care hun All my love Cloud
Trish, so glad you found us and want to work the steps!! Good for you!!! When it comes to getting a sponsor, you have to ask someone to do that job. We typically recommened that you stick around a little while and find someone with your same story, someone you can relate to and can understand you therefore help. Someone that knows the program and has time to give back to it. There are such things as temporary sponsors as well; someone to get you started on the steps and someone to talk to. Personally this was invalueable to me when i came here. It wont hurt a thing to ask someone, infact, they just might be waiting to give back to this program by being a sponsor!!

It took me to March to find my sponsor. I started in Nov. After seeing this person for a while in the face to face meeting, I felt that she would be right for me and I went up and asked her and she said yes. I am glad that I had the courage to ask her,
In the begin I ask someone that said no and I was crushed and angry but after a while I was able to find the sponsor I have now. She is great and worth waiting for. She has alot of things in common with me. We both take medicene, we both suffer from some kind of depression. But she works here steps and knows her stuff which I like very much. She doesn't push me to move quickly through the steps. I go at my own paces with is great.
Hopefully you will find someone too just like I found someone.

I would like to say think each and everyone of you that took the time out to read my post on sponsorship. I will keep eveyone in my head and think about what you guys have told me and go with it.
Trish, I hope you can find a good sponsor for yourself. I have posted on this board a few times looking for a sponsor, but since I am also looking for someone who not only has Alanon experience, but also experience dealing with a recovering sex addict. I guess someone who speaks multiple programs would be good for me. Thanks, Dana
