The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
Your english was just fine! I haven't seen you here before, so let me say welcome Glad your here and like the french accent
Your posting left a question bouncing around in my head..That is....is it the friend that let you have these emotions? or is it you that allowed yourself to have these emotions. This is a question I have to ask myself often and not just related with my qualifer (the alcoholic in my life) either.
Hope to see more of ya here Deutch, Im sure your 13 years in alanon will be a great asset to this board.
My stepdaughter is a young adult (20) from an alcoholic family. Yes, I understand the question here. What you may be seeing is the same type of behavior and thinking as you would see in the active drinker. This is what they grew up with. This is what they learned. Unless, and until, they learn to change their behavior and thinking, then they will continue to have these same traits as the active drinker. We call it "Dry Drunk" behavior, no alcohol but everything else the same as when drinking.
I am happy to see my stepdaughter reading Al-Anon literature. I see her trying to make changes in her life, in how she acts. I see a lovely young lady coming alive. This program is a blessing!
Love, Kis
