Hax,

Alright Ive looked at this post 100 times here goes, thanks for opening the door.

Info about me…

Mark
Male 42
Married with 3 kids two with wife and one step son (b,17) (g,9) (b,7)
Career- Aviation Tech Sales Rep
Hobby’s- flying, camping, boating/skiing
My qualifier- My wife
Alanon exposure- Joined about 3 years ago (no sponsor) attended meetings for a year-quit. Steps to 4 (at least convinced myself I did) and stopped. Rejoined in late January and attend f2f once a week. Read dailys C2C and ODAT, most of time.
Sponsor desires-someone (male) to help guide me through the steps primarily, especially 4 as I do not want to attempt 4 again until I have intentions of 5 and maybe even a date for 5 so I will not procrastinate. Someone patient, non judgmental yet strong enough to tell it like it is, trustworthy especially with what I have come up with on step 4 so far, and someone to communicate with on a regular basis. Temporary or not, at sponsor discretion.
Concerns- I’ve heard that internet sponsors don’t work due to the ease of “walking away” from the screen. I however also believe that may vary with the commitment one places on their own recovery. I have looked for a sponsor, and have come up lacking as male attendees in my group are very few and those that are there semi regularly are either much in the same position I am in. All I can say is I have tried to do it on my own and find that it just doesn’t work.

Hope this is what you meant by basic.

If you have anyone interested or any comments for me you can either use the private message and I will provide an actual e-mail or IM address.

Thanks for your consideration

Mark S

My situation

I live commonlaw with an alcoholic who also suffers from bipolar disorder.  We each have 2 daughters from previous marriages although none currently live with us.

My spouse has had many suicide attempts in the past 3 years and I am nearing the end of my rope in being able to cope with this.  She has just gotten out of psych ward at hospital after a 3 week stay and is soon going to a alcohol treatment facility.

My al-anon experience is somewhat limited.  I have been attending f2f meetings on and off for about the last 6 months, however I live in a very small town and the local group is quite small with no other males.  I do enjoy and get benefit from the meetings, but need more.

Hence I have started to use this message board and the MIP meetings.  I haven't really began to work the steps, but have tried to get "acquanted" with them.  I struggle still with the concept of a hp.  My training is that of a problem solver, that is what I do for a living.  I struggle with letting go and letting God.  But as I continue along this path I am realizing that I can't solve these issues on my own.

As for me personally, I am a 39 y/o professional with a ranch and rodeo background and enjoy most sports and outdoor activities.  I live in Alberta, Canada.

I seek an online sponsor who can help me work the steps.  Someone who is straightup and tells it like it is.

HI Haximon,

thanks for this posting.

I live in Alaska and have been in the program a year April 16th. I am trying to find a sponsor to help me with the program. At this point, I am at step 4. I have been looking for a  male sponsor here in Alaska but am having a challenge finding one; I am open to having an on-line sponsor to help guide me through the steps. I am very blessed to have this program; this is the next step for me. Thanks for any help!  Alaskamatt
