Could NOT stop laughing at this one..

Maybe it's a woman thing, but I have a feeling if there's any individual that's ever had to "here honey, hold my purse," you'll comiserate...from my email, from Reader's Digest....

WHEN I JOINED  the U.S. Air Force, it was the first time I had ever flown in an airplane. We were corralled off the planes and onto buses. There must have been 50 scared young women on my bus. Disembarking at our living quarters, we were given our luggage and told to stand at attention. A sergeant came out, yelled, "Pick up your bags!" and then yelled to set them back down. This cycle was repeated for about ten minutes. Finally he looked at me and said, "Why couldn't the rest of you have been as smart as this young lady?" I stood there with only my purse over my shoulder and no luggage. For the first and only time, I silently thanked the airline for losing my 60-pound bag filled with everything but the kitchen sink.

The first time I traveled by air after many years on the ground, I bought a monster suitcase and filled it with everything I thought I'd need for a week's vacation.  I don't know what it weighed on the outbound trip, but on the return trip - thanks to a bunch of books I bought - it tipped in at 84 lbs.  It was way overweight for the airline and they would have charged me up to $150 in extra handling fees.  I tipped the redcap 20 bucks and he put it on through....  but I learned my lesson.  I bought a much more normal size suitcase.  And if I buy stuff - books or otherwise - I go to the UPS store or whatever and ship it all back the day before my flight home.
