My AH stinks...Literally!!!

I have noticed that AH will sometimes reak of Vodka while he sleeps at night.  Someone told me that the alcohol is literaly exiting through his pores b/c his liver can not do it.  Is this true?

Yes, It was one of the key reasons I stopped sleeping in the same room as my ex-husband.  I could no longer stand the smell of the alcohol oozing out of him.  After a while I removed all of my clothes from our room as they started taking on the smell.

My uncle was the vodka drunk in my house. I still remember the smell. Eventually it pervaded the entire apartment. I used to keep my bedroom door shut at all times and spray perfume around the edge at least every half hour while I was awake. It was sickening. Such a chemical smell. When I was older my friends always said you couldn't smell vodka on the breath which was why they drank it so they woudn't get caught by the parents. I couldn't. I knew, you might not smell it on the breath but you could smell it on the body. ICK!

Our skin is our largest organ and when we sweat it allows toxins to come out. The liver is often comprimised by alcohol but that doesn't necessarily mean that is what is happening. If you eat a lot of garlic you can also smell it on skin.
I think my bedroom smelled like alcohol mostly because my husband snored and blew the stench all over the room. yucky!! I was real grateful for my extra bedroom.

I relate. My A not only stinks, but snores so loud that neither one of us sleep. Sometimes just his stench alone was enough to wake me up though. Gross. I used to try to force him into the guest bedroom, but now I realize it's easier to move myself than to try to wake the dead.

Oh what a wretched smell lol. Maybe try sticking some of that garlic up our noses. i laugh because I don't have to smell it anymore. Yeah it comes out of the pores and when the liver is so busy processing that alcohol it can't clean out the rest of the toxins in the blood and yes they come out through the pores. I've learned to smell the smell of a bad pancreas too. Kind of like grape to me. maybe its that Mogan David but when I smell that I know things are real serious. Pancreatitis is real painful.

I wonder what really works for laundry and such. Sometimes the oxygen in bleach will actually make aerobic bacteria grow faster and stink more. Ammonia makes ammonia smells worse. I remember for more sulfurous notes :) that Rose and orange were most effective at masking sulfurous smells because they blended easier. Maybe we need a laundry thread.

LOL my AH reeks not only of the vodka he drinks, but also of the garlic he eats to try and cover the alcohol breath. As if he thinks I am that stupid.

I just can't sleep in the same room with him, anymore. That is if I want to get a good nights sleep. sleepy.gif

Another thing is the 2 am jitters. I reckon that is when their brain cells are dying.
If it's been a big night my husband starts cussing and flailing his arms around and jerking.
If I can't sleep, I just head for my "other"room.
I hate the smell of stale beer breath too and the toilet in the morning smells like hell.
Understand desparate. I am blessed to have a spare room that has all my stuff in it.
It is like my sanctuary where everything smells nice!
Hubby finds it interesting that I need it. The disease makes them blind, deaf, and unable to smell themselves.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL! This thread is so funny but its also interesting and revealing- like wake up! this is one of the very real daily realities that is just GROSS! Like when I used to smoke, I mean what was I thinking?! Like how many truckloads of denial does one need to have to just think something like this is tolerable or "normal" ?!! I do not live with this thank goodness so I can laugh but it really helps me to feel compassion for those of us here who do and who choose to stay. Hats off to you- for consciously choosing to live under the same roof with these intensely diseased people and love them through some of these physically appalling things like this. My heart goes out to you guys. Hugs, J.
