I did it! I went to my first f2f!!!

I am so extremely proud of myself.  I actually walked in the room and felt the warmth and compassion of these people just take me in!  It was very overwhelming to be with a bunch of people that totally and completely understood what I was going through.  Another newcomer just sat in the chair and cried.  The sad part was that she didn't have to say a word, cuz i knew exactly how she was feeling.  The good part, was she was there and at that moment that is all that mattered.

What inspired me the most?  The slogan, "One day at a time".  Plain and simple, but speaks volumes!!!

Thanks to all of you that encouraged me to attend!!!!!

D4H, what a great post! yeah, I felt all that too. I did not say a single word for months and months, just bathed in knowing that everyone knew exactly what I was going through, too. And no one pressured me to talk, everyone just loved me as I was. Its SUCH a relief! I am so grateful to be a part of this program. The F2F are so crucial. They have literally saved my life. I know what you mean, isn't it great?! I am so glad you attended. Please keep returning to F2F and keep coming here! Watch yourself get content, cool, serene and healthy! Hugs, J.

Wow, that must be a wonderful feeling. I would love to be able to experience that but there are no f2f meeting near enough for me to get to, so I guess I will just imagine myself in that meeting with you feeling all that love. I hope you keep going and letting us know how it goes.

Heartbroken.

I'm proud of you too for going to a f2f.

It will only get better.

I like the slogan "one day at a time" too. Makes everything a bit more mangageable, don't you think?

My ah laughs outloud when he tells a funny story about the slogan "one day at a time"...

he was in rehab with a guy who had been struggling with alcoholism/addiction and rehab for 20+ years

during a discussion about that particular slogan, this guy, suddenly banged his head on the table and said, "oh I get it now, that's not just a slogan, but how we are supposed to live our lives!"

... and to think you "got it" at your first meeting. Keep going back!

Blessings,
Lou
