Sincere apologies to everyone here

Apparently I have created concerns with some people here in regards to things I have posted from outside resources, which I've always quoted the resource at the end of my post.

I never meant to offend anyone, and am sorry it wasn't Alanon approved literature.

I was posting things that had helped me in my journey from codependency and detaching from the addicts in my life.

Again, sincere apologies because I truly meant no offense or harm to anyone.

I wish you all the best in your life's journeys.

We know you don't mean to offend, hon. We do try to keep it Alanon here though. You can pass info to spacific people through private messaging if you want to make suggestions you think would help someone. I think that's ok. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Love in recovery,

I'll chime in to say I've enjoyed your contributions in general. You are a valuable member of our family :) If I hadn't been in and out of Alanon practically my whole life, I would've done the same. I'm always seeing or reading stuff that I'd like to share.

To encompass all the diversity, the program needs to stay bare boned and lean. I believe there is a lot more "out there" for our growth than what is available in approved literature. I believe we should seek it unrestricted.

Probably one of the reasons AA and Alanon have survived so long, intact, is the boundaries set by the the 12 traditions. The good of the individual is set second to the good of the group. It's probably how any major institution survives the changing times.

Don't feel badly :) and keep sharing!!

Kim

Don't feel badly.  Quite honestly, the board has gone back and forth on the issue of non-CAL depending upon who has posted it and the subject matter.

I think that there is general agreement that non-CAL should not be used during meetings. However, I don't believe that a general concensus has been reached as to the use of non-CAL on the message board.  I may be wrong--it's possible that it has been raised and voted on in a business meeting.  Some view the message board as being akin to socializing after a meeting, in which case non-CAL is appropriate.

Regardless, keep coming back!!  smile

No problem with these posts

Hi group...  I asked Tenderhearts about the posts, just for clarification purposes.  I PM'd her this evening, saying that I don't see any issue with these posts, as long as the source is referred to in each post.  Many of us are very familiar with Melody Beattie works, and the other book was new to me.

The issue of CAL vs. non-CAL approved literature is a grey area on this board, but hopefully we can continue to use our discretion and common sense....  As long as posts have good intentions, and are not promoting outside enterprises, etc., then they are typically acceptable.

As always, myself and the other moderators are available when questions come up about individual posts or topics....  We are far from perfect, but we DO try to keep some sense of consistency.

Yours in recovery
Tom

No problem with your posts and sharing...

Please (((Tenderheartsks))) don't stop posting.  Yours have been so endifying and from the heart,  and I can see that I am not alone in seeing this.

I had no idea of the limitations/boundaries to the information sharing, but I understand the necessity for a definite line.  However, I would/could easily find it difficult to know what is acceptable and not acceptable and would therefore take extra precaution after this post.

I would only have questioned the copyright laws of your post.  So, I have learned a lesson here too.

Thank you.
