I have tried now for days to get into the chat room for support and listening and talking and observing but no matter what I still cannot get into the chat room. cry

However my cousin, who lives in Texas and works the Al-anon 12 step programme too, has sent me a package containing 'Hope for Today' and 'How Al-Anon Works for families and friends of alcoholics'. smile 

I talked about being at Step 4 of the 12 Step Programme in my post some days ago too and said that that was where I thought I was at, and why I needed to enter the chat room; and guess what - November 5 in 'Hope for Today' is geared to Step 4. [p310]

Is this the work of my [HP] God, divine intervention; hey, look if you cannot get into the chat room, I [God] will ensure that you get the information and feeding that you need for that Step 4?  Well, I am convinced it has something to do with Him, the timing is just TOO PERFECT for mere human intervention, He has to be in there somewhere bringing it all together, because I have been panicking again.

ANYWAY, TO GET TO THE MAIN POINT AND FORGIVE ME FOR DIGRESSING:

I just want to remind everyone of the Al-Anon closing, which states "...though you may not like all of us, you'll love us in a very special way - the same way we already love you."

[Boy, that is so true, I do love you all in such a very special way...for you have all accepted me, warts and all and send out love to me across the pond that is so tangible when I enter this website.  There is no denying this.  Oooops, I am digressing again - but am I? NO 'cos it is true, and I need to share this with you all!]

Wow, it is an incredible thing and the note goes on to explain that this goes on until we start to love ourselves.  It also suggests that in Step four the act of discovering oneself is proactive and involves us embracing the things we don't like about ourselves as well as the things we do like about ourselves and that the love in this family is unconditional in that Al-anon embraces the whole of us.  aww

So, if you don't feel loved today and you don't like yourself today, well I guess you will have to remember that someone loves you and someone likes you too for WHO YOU ARE, and that someone is SOME OF US,  which includes me.weirdface

It is all about accepting the love that the group will give until you can love yourself, but I see it as going a step further than that, it seems that the group continues to love you even after you have begun to love yourself. smile

How cool is that and just for today I am going to remember that when I am not feeling that I am a lovable and a likable person, that some of you disagree with me and do love me and like me as the person I am? biggrin

Thank you my adopted family.  I hope this will make you ALL FEEL LOVED TODAY, no matter HOW UNLOVABLE AND UNLIKABLE YOU FEEL YOU ARE.

I have, and I have downloaded BOTH versions because I was unsure of which version to download.

Thank you for posting the link again for me. 

I think I am just being a non-techincal idiot as it seems to be such an easy thing to do, and yet I am STILL not getting anywhere.  And I have an BSc Honours degree in ITHF! Derrrrrrr.

My son would say I am having a 'blonde' moment [or two], or worse still that I am having a SENIOR MOMENT!

Perhaps I am, however, I can tell you I do feel very inadequate and incredibly stupid.

You are not inadequate or stupid. You are just missing something.LOL Is there someone who is very technical you could call for help or even email real time with? It is probably something simple and you will laugh when you get it figured out.
