Do you have a quiet spot, away from the chaos?

As the days shorten and less hours are spent outside, we all need that special place, a quiet place, where we can unwind, relax, and just focus on OUR needs only. Dealing with the disease of alcoholism can drain of us energy, self worth, self esteem etc.....Keeping the focus on ourselves can be a daunting task and sometimes it seems impossible to accomplish. But starting today you can create a "special" place just for you, to rejuvinate your senses and relax your mind from all the "committees" that haunt you, and the stinking thinking which occurs from time to time. "Me time", in that special place you have created, may it be the long bubble bath,or a chair with a comfortable blanket draped over you as you read a book in the corner of your bedroom. Let us hear where you have your quiet spot, to perhaps inspire others to find their own refuge away from the daily trials of life.  awwawwaww

(((((((((GG))))))))))

That is a great post...

I have a few of them. Depends on which one is handy at the time, and I only share them with people who I trust with my thoughts and feelings.

Close to my office is a small (very small) park with a lake and trees. It is beautiful and tucked away where most people don't even see it. Even has a gazebo for when it's rainy.

I also like to spend time at the cemetary where my grandparent are... may seem odd, but that place is so peaceful and like the park is right by my office.

Thanks for the topic, I think everyone needs that place even if its only in thier thoughts.

Take care of you!

Aaaagh...my special places.

Each weekday morning I leave from my daughter's bus stop for a 4 mile walk along the river and farm country that surrounds my town. The only thing that keeps me from it is rain.

Each school night my daughter and I get in bed and read for at least a half hour before turning out the lights. There is nothing like getting lost in the fictional life of someone else.

Great post Rita,

you always keep us thinking biggrin.gif

(((R))) cemetery is not odd to me.  I like to visit my mom every now and then.  Though I know she's everywhere I am, I go to her final resting place when I am feeling lonely and look at her beautiful headstone which has "beloved mother" on it.

I also go to a lake on warm sunny days and let the sunshine warm me to the core.  I love to listen to the ducks on the water, children playing on other properties, fishing boats quietly slipping by.

At home, I have a rocker that has heat and vibration so I sit quietly sometimes being still, other times reading, other times listening to my alanon CD's (Mary Pearl is my favorite).

At work, I go sit out on a park bench under a gigantic oak tree and though there is activity going on all around me, I often feel like an island and just sit and take in the sights.

with our warm sunny days ending all to soon,
i decided to join the local gym.
we have very few daylight hours during winter in northern alberta canada,
so,
i decided that just for me i would go to the gym a few days a week this season,
and,
exercise under the flouresent lights,
then,
i will go sit for awhile under the warm infra red lights in the quiet solitary sauna listenig to relaxing spa water music.

i did join the gym.
it is cold here already.
and,
i can say,
that although it takes some effort to get myself out the door and drive into town,
once i am there......,
i am so glad i did it,
just for me.
