Face to Face Al-Anon Meetings

I'm looking to attend my first Al-Anon meeting on Tuesday night. I was wondering if it was okay if a friend came with me? I'm really nervous about taking this step and I know if someone came with me then it would make this first step a lot easier.

I have been in a few meetings where a friend came for support. A couple of times the friend is the one who keeps comming back. Do what you need to get there. It is ok to be scared and it is hard and I think if you have a friend who is willing to be there for you in this time then all the better. Good luck and remember that even in f2f meetings we have all been the new commer at some point.

Sure, it's fine.  You don't have to talk at the meeting if you don't want to, it's OK if you cry, it's OK if you just spill your guts.  Everyone there has been as scared and despairing as you are - we don't come to alanon because our lives are perfect.
