My father, the Alcoholic

I haven't spoken to my father in a year. He is very disrespectful to me in front of my daughter and can go into rages. I severed the relationship and have no desire to have a relationship with him. He also participates in cat calls while I am in his presence. I always denied how I felt when around him. Recently, he called my grandmother to tell her he found some of my belongings and he was going to throw them away. I really don't care about whatever he has. I was out of town while this happened. My grandmother went over to his house to gather my things. She asked him for a garbage bag. He told her he wanted the garbage bag back. I could talk to my grandmother until I am blue in the face, but she always reacts to his behavior. He is trying his darndest to get to me, but it doesn't work anymore. I am no longer his puppet. I feel so free. Thank God for Al-Anon!

((((Kissers))))

I am very happy that you don't let it bother you anymore. My father was an A too. It finally killed him at the age of 58. We all reacted to him as when we were young we did not know any different. I am glad that you do know and that you can detach from him.

Love, Gail
