One thing said to me

By my A ex, is one of the reasons we broke up was that she feel like I was there for her, when she decided to quit drinking. I have stood beside her through everything we have done toegther and all her decisions, I dont know how else to show her that I am still there for her no matter what happens...

one of the best ways I have learned to support an A is to attend the face to face al anon meetings.  You should really try to attend at least six until you decide if it is for you, it takes awhile to absorb the message and way the tools will help you support her and help yourself at the same time.

Not enough can be said for hearing the experiences of others who have gone through this before and had a lot of the same questions and frustrations.  I went angry to my first meeting that I felt I had to go and now it's like breathing the same air in an al anon meeting keeps me focused until I can get to the next meeting.  Didn't see how it was going to help at first but kept going and it has been such a great help.  Hope you can find a meeting in your area.

In support,
ddub

Interesting signature , Mr Clingy .   A newly sober alcoholic is Stark Raving Nuts , they make rash decissions * often * no ryme nor reason .  Trying to live with out alcohol is tough , you don't say if you go to meetings for yourself f2f al anon , for me that is the best way to support the alcoholic in m y life , reminds me to mind my own business , get outta thier face and leave them to AA .

I have not been to a f2f meeting yet, been to a couple online meetings here, seemed to actually help quite a bit, I plan on going probably Monday, seems like the easiest day in my work schedule to go. I really appreciate everyones support, I'm not used people being so supportive with this.

Thanks for the info Louise
