Thank you all for being here....

(((((((((Everyone)))))))))

I have often been moved to tears by the support you have offered me here.  Life is just such a strange harbor to be sailing in some days... you all help me see the rocks... and the open water.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

A very very dear friend of mine lent me a cd from the group Casting Crowns.  I listened to the whole thing and for the last few days rarely play anything but track 3.  Its called the voice of truth.  It is a Christian rock band so if you are so inclined you can do a little search and replace with a few specific references.

Thought I would share it with you....  It has been the battery for my strength lately when I am alone.

The voice of truth....

Oh,what I would do
To have the kind of faith it takes
To climb out of this boat I'm in
Onto the crashing waves
To step out of my comfort zone
Into the realm of the unknown
Where Jesus is,
And he's holding out his hand

But the waves are calling out my name
and they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
time and time again
"Boy, you'll never win,
you'll never win."

But the voice of truth tells me a different story
the voice of truth says "do not be afraid!"
and the voice of truth says "this is for my glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

Oh, what I would do
to have the kind of strength it takes
To stand before a giant
with just a sling and a stone
Surrounded by the sound
of a thousand warriors
shaking in their armor
Wishing they'd have had the strength to stand

But the giant's calling out
my name and he laughs at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The giant keeps on telling me
time and time again
"Boy you'll never win,
you'll never win."

But the voice of truth tells me a different story
the voice of truth says "do not be afraid!"
and the voice of truth says "this is for my glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

but the stone was just the right size
to put the giant on the ground
and the waves they don't seem so high
from on top of them looking down
i will soar with the wings of eagles
when i stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
singing over me

But the voice of truth tells me a different story
The voice of truth says do not be afraid
And the voice of truth says this is for my glory
Out of all the voices calling out to me (calling out to me)
I will choose to listen and believe (I will choose to listen and believe)
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

I will listen and believe
I will listen and believe the voice of truth
I will listen and believe
'Causes Jesus you are the voice of truth
And I will listen to you.. oh you........

I completely relate.  Music is really healing for me.  I have times where I repeat the same track over and over and let it just take over me to help me cope.  I also have times where I forget how much music affects me and I happen upon a song and immediately my mood is changed, sometimes tears, sometimes joy...it all depends.  Thanks for sharing this.  Take good care of you.

Also, thank YOU for being here!!

Your friend in recovery,
Leetle

I love this - "The voice of truth" - if any of you are like me - for so many years I listen to the voice of my disease - the voice of the negative messages, the hurtful things, the pain, the sorrow - I love that now I can hear the "different story"

That I can choose to listen & believe the voice of truth.

beautiful and for me-very very appropriate to my recovery too.

Thanks so much for sharing with us!!

Wishing you Serenity & Joy,
Rita

I know this song VERY well and I know the group too. We have a christian rock station here and they play alot of music. That's pretty much all I listen to. I could go on and on with songs for you. lol I am soooooooo happy that you found this song and it blessed you. HP is amazing. I like Jimmy Needham alot too. If you want to know a few Christian artists that have awesome lyrics like the one you like let me know. I would be more then happy to give you some names.
I believe music is a great way to heal. Hugs and kisses. ^i^

When my world really started crashing down on me after my AH moved out, I  went to church and there was a powerful message on temptation. This song was part of the service.  I bought a cd of the service and listened to it over and over. One evening I crumbled on the bedroom floor sobbing with this song playing as I realized how unmanageable my life had become, and that I had no choice but to give it up to the only one who could handle it, because it certanly wasn't me. While I was acknowledging that my life was full of lies, many that I had chosen to believe,  the "voice of truth" was out there and that I just needed to choose to believe it. That night I felt my pain so that I could start the long road to healing.  Thanks for sharing. It actually reminds me that although my life is not "fixed" or glorious, it is better, and for that I am grateful!

Blessings,

Lou
