The courage to walk through the doors...

I did it: I went to a meeting this afternoon. It took all the courage I could muster to walk into the room, especially since this was my first time at this particular meeting. I was so relieved to be back, even though I was nervous the entire time. I didn't speak, but listening was enough.

I did realize that I have taken so much pride from not being addicted to anything, often looking down on those that use alcohol, drugs, food, ANYTHING as a crutch. I judge from my throne.. although I am the one that can't even leave my room, let alone my apartment. I realize that unknowingly, I have become addicted to being in control. I am looking forward to returning to my practice or relinquishing some of that need to be in charge of everything, especially those things I can't possibly control.

Thank you to all for your support and kind words.. I can't begin to explain how much it helped me walk through those doors today.

Much love,
roze

The first step is always the hardest.  Good for you for facing your fear and doing it anyway! floating.gif

The definition of courage is not the absense of fear but doing what's good for you in spite of the fear. Good for you Roze!!! The next time will be easier and easier. Let in the love and acceptance, it is there for you :)

We're proud of you, and you are just fine the way you are. May you come to this conclusion yourself speedily! Kim

Oh, Rozes,

I have eaten so much crow this past year, feathers and all. To say I've been humbled is an understatement! I've been going to f2f meetings for a year now, and I still feel a bit intimidated, that surely everyone must make better decisions and have a better "life" than I do. But you know what? The more I go and listen to shares, I learn that although we have different stories, our pain is the same, and we are all in it together.

I'm proud of you for walking through those doors and hope you can continue.

Blessings,

Lou

Way to go, for making that first step!!! I know how intimidating it is, I am there now. I can only imagine that it will be easier from now on. {{{{{Roze}}}}}
