Apologies for those who read my post on another board....but I thought it was cool and wanted to share.
I took my son to his first Major League baseball game this week on Monday. He's been to minor league games but never the grandour of a MLB game.
One of the things he asked me about was the designs on the grass. I said they made designs, and that they did that at my regional too, he asked how. I said they do it with the mower.
Today he asked me...I understand they do it w/ the mower but how do they make the grass look lighter and darker with the mower. I explained to him that a blade of grass is like a leave, and that one side is darker than the other. I also told him that the direction you cut and sometimes some special attachments on the mower, make it so that you see a certain side of the leaf.
He replied, "kinda like the saying 'the grass is greener on the other side'. I thought about that for a second and said...thank you. I explained that the saying the grass is always greener is usually finished by on the other side of the fence, meaning that your looking at someone elses lawn or situation thinking it was better than yours. I told him...what you just made me think of is that I you don't really have to look at other people lawns that find the greener grass, sometimes you just have to look at your own blades of grass and turn it over. Looking at my own grass from a different perspective and it too can be greener.
He told me 'yeah....you're welcome'. LOL

Hey, thanks for sharing! That is a really neat story, its amazing what children can teach us sometimes! And I love that..."the grass is greener on the other side" I'll have to remember it when the times get tough...because you're right when I look at my situation and life in a different perspective....I find that I think my life is good in many ways despite the tough times. Again, thank you for sharing that wonderful story!

Good job on taking your son to the game too! I bet you both had a fabulous time. You are both blessed to be able to share that time together.
Oh my gosh, Bob, I LOVE that story. Thanks so much for sharing - kids seem to have such a different (and usually better ) perspective on things than we do!

Yep, damn kids, lol.... always being so bright and cheerful and fresh, etc.... Reminds me of the time I was driving my kids around town when they were little, and it was raining like mad.... I commented on what a "rotten day" it was, and my daughter said - "why do you think it's a rotten day Daddy? I think it is a beautiful day, and God is just watering all his trees and flowers!". Damn, I hate getting taught perspective from a five year old!! :)
