It has been very tough for me to hit the site for any extended period right now, but I am around and read in bits and pieces when I can. Wanted to drop a line and let you know you are all in my thoughts and prayers... even in my absence.
It is rare these days that something new is not amazing me. Where the heck have I been holed up? How many years have I floated through life not really seeing the wonders of this world?
It is rare that a day goes by now that I don't stare in wonder at a sunset, laugh that there are frogs in my yard or some other seemingly simple blessing that I just have ignored for so long. I feel like a little kid on his first trip to Toy 'r Us.
How the heck did I get so shut down? I ask that question... but I am not dwelling on the answer. Might miss the chance meeting of a new friend, or amazing sunset version 362.
Yes I am still seperated.... coming up on a year now, and yes my wife is still drinking. I on the other hand have taken off my blinders, revived some old friendships and have met some wonderful new friends. The boys and I have done some fun things this summer... and I am more content and happy in my own skin now than I have been in years.
I read literature and go to meetings now because I want to... not because if I don't - I'll want to jump off a bridge.
If you are in that place or better.... thanks for showing me the way, and if your are not... I will save some sunsets and full moons just for you. As someone on here told me once... just remember to look up.

I also know the answer to why we feel life just goes by without us noticing...it comes with age. We slow down and enjoy life....what till shuffle board. hahahaha
So glad to see your post and hear you are doing well. You have grown so much in your program and you are a wonderful blessing to this website. Enjoy the rest of the summer and keep looking up at those sunsets.!!

I am so glad to hear your smiling joy again!!! You have taught me so much, and yes I am finally at that place also. There is SO much going on in this world and I am eternally grateful to all the wisdom on this site and in face to face meetings to bring me out into the world also. We can make the choice to be happy and be grateful for our lives and the good in this world.

The hope message I see!! Awesome. The frame came off your picture and there is soooo much more to be aware of rather than that one little section of the picture we used to be so focused on. That is why I missed it all for a while. Grateful for HP and HP's generosity, kindness and patience. He knew that if I got in, stayed in, worked and participated in this spiritual journey called Al-Anon recovery I would one day, like you, see and experience all the great stuff that has been so freely gifted to us. Now if I look out my window I see lots of fog. But as hubby and I get ready to go to garage sales, we will drive through the fog and the sun will come out. We will also be able to see the balloons taking off from the Speidi Festival. "Push away the shadows, the sun will come out."
