off topic, need help, experience please

hello, well you guys know I have been feeling very rough.

Ok I am eating the way I am suppose to since Thursday. Feel absolutely awful. Like living with the flu, which I rarely get.
stomach flu.

The med is called,"Metforman" I have to take it twice a day with food. plus I have my vitamins and minerals, then the other meds.

doc said none of my meds would be bad with it.

do any of you have any experience with it? I read it can  make ya feel bad for about two weeks.

If I stay still I am sorta ok.

But I am trying to get my bunkhouse done. so told me just to do a tiny bit. so I go measure for the t one eleven exterior wall. I cut it,came back and had screwed it up. cannot even do something simple like that right.

went and layed in my pasture in the dark. My two big pink farm pigs, estersue and fannie came and layed by me. so nice.

was thinking how suesue has been with me eight years, more loyal and better to me than the A.

Anyhow my son called me back and we gabbed for an hour or so. was so nice.

then I had a heck of a time not falling walking back to my bunkhouse.....

Anyway, I hope someone has experience with diabetes and can tell me if this gets better?

thank you, love,debilyn

(((deb)))

i feel for you.  i can give you my personal thoughts on this, although i have no information on the drug itself.

i refuse to take medications - as drugs/pharmaceuticals are poisons and toxic to the body.  drugs mask symptoms and most often does not have any impact on the root of the problem.  i eat organic foods.  i do cleanses and fasts.  i rarely get sick, and when i have gotten a bug, it has usually left me in short-time.  the colon is usually the culprit - as it is a breeding ground for bacteria.  i strongly urge all of my loved ones to at least research it (online... easy).

take what you like, and leave the rest.

love,
cj

No experience at all to offer you Debilyn, but perhaps the attached website I Googled for you will have some of the answers you are looking for.  Hope so.

hi debilyn,

I do not have experience with this drug.  I do have experience with side effects of perscription drugs.  Starting out can be the worst.  I am wondering, if working outside in the heat is a good idea?  I had a heck of a time getting adjusted to a couple of meds I take and learned that taking it easy was the only way until I got my body adjusted to them.  Many will make you sun and heat sensitive.  I too live in the Pacific Northwest we are going to heat up!  I live alone so I let my neighbor in on what is going on with me, so they can check on me just in case.  Have you checked the drug out on the web?  Lots of information there too.  Don't be afraid to give that doc a call if it all gets to much for you!  I will be thinking of u.  Please take care!

God Bless,

Carol

Debilyn,

So sorry that you are not feeling well.  I google diabets forums thinking that a great place for some ESH would be there.  The link is below...

http://www.diabetesforums.com/

LIsten to your body and take care of yourself.  My dad suffered/lived with diabetes all of his adult life.  It was difficult to watch and have him not take care of himself.  I am so happy that you are doing the best you can to take care of you.

The leaflet you get with the meds, needs to be shown. For legal purposes only. Do not READ too much into the side affects.

These could happen to 1 in 100 people... IF your doctor has given you these to make you better, TRUST in them....Only if the effects persist, then seek further medical advice....

Try IF POSSIBLE, to get some rest, drink loads of water, and just relax.....

Yours In Recovery

I think FOY has something there, if you are miserable and not functioning up to your par call the doc and just MAKE SURE these symptoms aren't NEGATIVE side effects he/she doesn't want you to have.

It's been a couple years since I worked as a nurse, and like I said before I worked with drug addicts and mentally ill. Lots of mental health drugs cause adult onset diabetes, so there was always a little diabetes to take care of.

What are your blood sugars? Do you test? Low blood sugar feels a lot like having flu symptoms. Perhaps it is working too well. If you're eating right, the metformin might be over doing it.

I actually take this medicine. You're experiencing the side effects love. They took me a week to get over. You might also want to talk about coupling this med with Avandia. The two work wonderfully together as a team vs alone (which reminds me I need to get my avandia...Bad Tiger! hee hee!)
Yes, it takes a while to get adjuted, but it's a good med. Also, if the dose it mercilessly high, I found that metiformin is a bitch, but the name brand, glucophage is much easier--actually comes in a pill rather than a horse sized pill.
Good luck and get back with your dr. Perhaps she'll have something for the nausea.

I'm one of those people who find it pretty hard to down vitamins on an empty stomach.

I have to say I'm also one of those people who have struggled really for decades with side effects. I've had to take steroids for years really for various things. Its a great medication but the side effects are tremendous. I wish I were one of those people who were healthy but I'm not.

I can imagine you feel pretty alone. I only have two cats to deal with and two dogs (at a distance) and I struggle with that. I dont think I will ever get more pets although I'd love to just because of the responsibility issue.

I know for me often the internet wasn't enough. I wanted people around me to help out and they didn't. The A was and still is the last person who can help. I imagine that is because he got a lot of that from his mother who is totally phobic about illness. She is getting up there in her years now so I don't know how much longer she can be phobic. She's also married an older man and at some point its inevitable he will get ill.

I felt tremendously betrayed by the A at times over his abandonment. I am sure you do at these times.
I think for many A's loyalty is something they demand but dn't know how to give. I also know for me personally my loyalty was often seriously misplaced. I was loyal to my family for years and years and to my mother until the bitter end. My mother did not deserve that. I am still loyal to the A on many levels but I do say no now and often. I am also wary about being involved with him on many levels.

I don't do well with doctors. I don't do well with sorting out medications. I just generally tend to try to find m own way through stuff. I've had my own really serious side effects from medications and have numerous stuff that isn't being taken care of at the moment. I worry about it but I also know that at the moment I am seriously doing the best I can.

I have no experience here but I heard that the Atkins diet is supposed to be very effective at combating diabetes. I would do more research on diet and diabetes.

thank you all for the info, support, ideas and experience.

Was so nice to see people care.

I will look up the two sites, I heard about the Atkins way of eating. Will look more into that.

will look up advandia. Never thought about the sun, but  you are right, some meds do make us more suseptible to problems from sunshine.
Part is I am all messed up in my sleeping. It is almost never a problem. Was so sick was up till 3am. then up at 6am.

so dumb but I saw this show and the people got married (er) The chaplin said, and you both will take care of each other during illness and blah blah blah.

I thought about all the illness I helped my AH thru. Now when I need help, he is nowhere.

Um taking care of the animals is easy. It gets me up. I have it all set up very efficient. horses, llamas, goats are in my other 5 acres with lots of grass, poison oak and blackberries to eat. Full 100 gallone troughs.

fancy chickens, mom chicken and chicks, injured hen (neighbors dog) mom turkey and her chicken chicks (snuck chicken eggs under Feefee) Spike a roni the handicapped pig, the guinea pigs and Helena the bunny are all in this fenced area together. They are easy to feed this way. G pigs and rabbit are free in there.

The potted pigs, come out to this hill, I just carry about 30 pounds of feed, pour out 17 piles. then feed my Lusterpig in his house. then feed my two farm pigs, Fannie Alice and Estersue right by my bunkhouse.

super easy. I check water every other day. that is easy.

Plus when my little 8 year old neighbor is home, she considers it HER job to feed HER animals. lol She is amazing.

She got on my horse Elgin bareback and just took off, a natural. I could not believe it, made me cry to know how happy she was....

dogs freefed catsfreefed.

My house is my bunkhouse, super easy to clean.

If i feel like i am falling asleep, I sleep. if I don't headache.

Anyway thank you so much, going to go do this stuff.

Love debilyn who DID get her bird feeders up in the pear tree this morn in her pink nightgown and slippers... At least the ones that fell down on me fell all the way thru my nighty. I had my arms up trying to hook one up, here comes Fannie alice she is about 800 pounds now. Was eating all the little seeds.

I am about to fall over reaching hooking and she is pulling on my nightgown telling me to spill some more...I pictured her ripping my nightgown off me....lol

I do have a call into the doc, thank you for supporting that.

would someone make me some potatoe soup with plain soy milk,ww taost and some watermelon with iced tea and lemon?

(c: The hard part too is, to figure out the diabetes way of eating with the anti inflammatory thing.

ok.... love,debilyn

Debilyn:

I have had a kidney disease for decades. Only now after years of al anon can I even think about I should eat a diet that is better for my kidneys. When I was with the A the other day I ate stuff that made me ill. I know I react to the stress around him very easily. I had terrible indigestion. I can just feel well drained by him and his demands and needs. I have my own issues and he doesn't ever seem to hear them. He is so overwhelmed with his own illness and own issues. Yet I do hear from other people he thinks about me and wants to make my life better....

Sometimes i do want him to take care of me. Other times I know the only way to take care of me is by me. Just being around him can be incredibly stressful and he is not in a crisis now. He is just difficult to be around.

I loved the food you spoke of.

I am so sorry you have no one to dote on you. I am glad your animals do.

I spent some time this weekend just laying around with my cats and I know that helped.

Maresie.

Marisie, yes we all need to feel at least once in awhile another human cares for us. someone to take us to a surgery or to the er.

someone to call and vent to. I am not sure it was ok to vent to my son but it went nice.

My animals, omg they are there for me. big time too. It amazed me that i was laying out there in the dark and here comes two rhino's in pig suits laying by me. they NEVER do that if i am not out there. They have nice hay stalls.

If I go lay in front, the potted pigs lay by me, dogs too.

so i am blessed in many ways.

CJ wanted to tell you, I AGREE!!! I am not an antibiotic person at all, will take grapeseed extract, am into homeopathy, I rarely get viruses.

I believe in time i can control this diabetes with good eating habits and more fun.

cannot do the atkins thing. It has too much meat and dairy.

The anti inflammatory way of eating is me. I don't eat meat much at all. Only do if it is something special.

joined the diabetes forum and trying to get used to it and feel at home.

the other site was informative, when my doc calls I will ask about this other med.

nap time. is hot have the ac on.....love,debilyn
