Ingrown eyeballs

You may be wondering, what in the world is ingrown eyeballs.  I have to tell ya, I just heard about this one yesterday!
Think about an ingrown nail.  Your nail is supposed to grow out and straight.  When it grows inward, wrapped and backwards, it starts to hurt.  It is tender, and doesn't feel very good at all.

So using that analagy, think about your eyes.  If you are looking forward, you are looking at what is going on right now, and maybe even a bit to the future.  If you have ingrown eyeballs, you are worried about stuff that has already happened.  Going over and over old hurts, old wounds, and things that you have not yet let God have or things that you have yet to forgive.

How long do you want to have ingrown eyeballs?  I know after I heard this, it really made me think about my choices.  Do I want to make a positive choice, or make one based on something that happened a month ago, a year ago, or even something that happened as a child.  No matter what your choice is going to be, think.  "Be still and know that I am God"

He will lead you.  He may be trying to get you out of His way to get to somebody else.  He may also be using you for His goodness.  We really don't know, do we?  But if we were asked, did you do or say with your eyes out front or ingrown, what would you answer?

Let me know your thoughts!  I am SO curious how everybody takes this!

Take care and God Bless
Sandy

I think it's a great analogy. I guess you could say "I resemble that remark". LOL

I have to run but wanted to say thanks for sharing that!

Take care of you!

I liked the analogy..reminds of the phrase don't stare at the past.  Heard that somewhere and it does help me to not focus on the past because today is what i have.
The image of an ingrown eyeball did make me chuckle.
your friend in recovery,
rosie

Hi Smpoli,

It makes me think of these questions, What will the obstacles and opposition you meet do to you today?  Will they make you bitter or will they make you better?  We all have a choice.......I love the verse "Be still and know that I am God."  Loved the analogy.  Take care friend,
God Bless....

Well we all know how much an ingrown nail can hurt... Just imagine the pain the eyeballs are causing LOL. I then when we let go of the bitterness and resentment and yes even hope - because usually the hope is a delusion more than anything else - we can relieve the pain within. I like your analogy...
