Letting Go

I love it, not really at times, when I think (think being the operative word) that I have my life in order.  They say that when you think God doesn't have a sense of humor, tell him your plan.   I thought I didn't need to read One Day At A Time in Alanon anymore as I don't live with an active A and lo and behold I picked it up today and WHAM there was the reading I needed.  I could visualize God, my Higher Power, just sitting up there with a little smile on his face gently, lovingly acknowledging me.

I so needed this reading today.  Perhaps it will help you too.

April 16 - When I can finally persuade myself to let of a problem that has been tormenting me, solutions begin to unfold that I never dreamed were possible.  This should convince me that any human understanding does have limits -- that there are things I can't figure out by myself.  Only then I will let go -- and trust to a Higher Power for help.

Such an experience -- seeing things happen that I did not bring to pass -- should prove to me that another person's actions and fate are not in my hands.

"May I always keep in the forefront of my mind that I am not all-wise and all-powerful.  Only God is that -- and it is on Him that I must rely."

I'm so grateful to this site to help my recovery.

yours in recovery,
Maria
