Request for alanon book
Permalink Closed

Hi everyone again. I am putting this post out to each and every one of you. Let me first say I am not trying to act like a beggar in the street for a crust of bread, but I do have a need and I wanted to see if anyone could and/or would be willing to help me.

I have really been looking at the information of the Al-anon book Paths to Recovery. For me, this is just too darn expensive. I can't help it.

Does anyone out there have an extra copy they might be willing to send to me? I really think since I am not able to get to any meetings in my area at the moment, that this book may help me when I am not online. I used to have the book, The Dillema of the Alcoholic Marriage, but I think I gave it away. We aren't married, so  I am not sure that applies.

It is just this paths to recovery book I am so very interested in having in my hands to read. If, by chance, someone does step up to help, can you tell me if the words on the pages are really small, or fairly readable. I wear glasses and my vision is getting worse year by year. 36 years old and need bifocals.

Ok,  I will stop beating myself up to say thank you to anyone who might be able to help me.

My father once told me a couple of things....1. It never hurts to ask. and  2. The only stupid  question is the one you refrained from asking..
Smart man.

so, can Anyone at all help me?

I would gladly send you a couple of Al-Anon books, including Path To Recovery, How Al-Anon Works and Courage to Change, as well as a few Al-Anon magazines, called the Forum.

Please send me a private message via this board with your name and mailing address and I'll get them into the mail to you this week.

John

Have you read the Getting Them Sober series, by Toby Rice Drews?  There is also a website by that name, with lots of good information.  www.gettingthemsober.com.  Also, on the website, there are a lot of actual excerpts from the books that you can read.
At first I didn't even want to LOOK at that book, I thought Oh, no!  That is totally against Alanon principles!  But don't let it throw you.  It's just a catchy title.  Toby Rice Drews knew just the title would hook those of us who are codependent!
I also emailed Toby Rice Drews, and she actually sent me a free copy of a video she made.  I don't have it anymore, I gave it to my counselor to use, but it is worth a shot.
Since you do have your computer, and are holed up at home recuping, use this time to read and study all you can. I know it helped me.
Wishing you well,
Love in Recovery,
Becky1

Thanks Becky!  I hadn't heard of that site but it really has a lot of valid information there.

Thanks for the info.

Love and Hugs,
Irish
