In Crisis. My A called it quits with me....ESH appreciated

Hello everyone,
I know I haven't posted a whole lot lately. Been trying to recover from my surgery. I am tired a lot and been resting a lot. I realize my A is truly losing it with the alcohol. It is like he has turned into someone else.

I can't put a lot of thoughts together, which also means everything that has to do with my house is in disaray (messed up). Not major mess.
Housing authourity comes near the end of the week to inspect our apartments.
I am planning to call my local al-anon meeting number once agan to try for a response. I am so desperate I will even go to AA if that is all I can get to
I cannot stay in my Shell of confusion, doubt, and depression. The longer I stay here, I will eventually go nuts myself.
But it is hard to do anything after this surgery. I feel sluggsh, so, adn weak.
Please pray for me and reply.
i want to become a more active part of this group/
Thanx for listening.
Stace

Stace,
He most likely has turned into somebody else.  They say an addict turns further and further away from their values.
As for you, I wonder if you have tried journaling?  It might be helpful for you, especially since you are laid up and feeling so weak.  It can be done right in your bed! I know it works for me, helps me to put all my thoughts in perspective.

Do you have some al-anon literature you can read while you are recuperating?  The hope and strength we can gather from that is great.

Also, if you can make it to a meeting...AA or al-anon, that would be great.  I know from experience, when we isolate at home, things can be too tough to handle by ourselves.  I tend to be an isolater ... not good.

This forum is fantastic, and I don't want to go without it .... but f2f meetings are so good too.  It also gets us out of the house, and we find new friends.

I'm so sorry you are going through such a hard time right now.  I also had the same surgery, and I know it takes quite a while for our bodies to totally recuperate; so give yourself a break too.  You've got through some tough times.  Treat yourself kindly.

I know we have this saying of "think think think"..... but sometimes when we are down, we can "think think think" way tooooo much.  lol

Love and Hugs,
Irish

You are in good hands!

Remember to take care of you.  I had a surgery not too long ago too...hated being down.  Thank God nothing serious and was back together a few weeks later.
I remember being on the phone a lot!  Don't be afraid to use it.  People that have been around honestly DO love phone calls.  Reading material...very important, and as metioned, literature!

Take care of you!

Love, in recovery
Sandy

Try not to stress over things too much. You need that energy to recover from your surgery. Remember...take care of you. This also means in a physical way also, not just emotional and spiritual. Sometimes when we are down physically it can affect us emotionally. I went through a rough time a few yrs back when I had to have surgery. The house was getting cluttered and things were stacking up and I let it start to get to me. One day I just looked at it and realized it wasn't going anywhere and would be waiting for me when I was able to get it done. After that I did only the things that were necessary for me and the kids, the rest was left to wait. The more I tried to push myself the weaker I got and I knew that at that rate I would never recover enough to get it done. I rested, got my strength back and was able to get to the mess. It was a matter of prioritizing (sp ?) things for me and it worked.  The serenity payer helped alot during this time also. I said it so much I am betting I could have recited it backwards lol.

Have you contacted the manager of your apartment and let him/her know you just had surgery and that you are unable to have your place ready for inspection? They sometimes can arrange for help for you or can arrange to let your apartment slip by this inspection. Or they may only stop in to make sure there is no damage and nothing is in need of repairs.

If you cannot get ahold of anyone on your local alanon number call the hotline number, 1-800-425-2666. I have had to call that number in the past and they were very helpful.

For now just rest and get yourself healed. Concetrate on you.
