aquarium

As I start a new project setting up an aquarium…My thoughts started to “THINK,” how my life and program has a way to relate to Alanon. Always apply the program in my goals and achievements. I have a 30 gal tank…I had more than 30 gallons to take to Alanon tables when I first entered. Placing the 25 lbs of rock at the bottom of my tank was setting the foundation just like all the face to face meetings I attended. As I put the water in tank back and forth to the sink for water. I related as me going back and forth with my troubles. Letting them go and then taking them back. Until I finally understood to give them to a power greater than me I call God, and leave them there. “Let Go and Let God.” As I really enjoy the slogans in our program I have based my share here with them. “Let it begin with me“…If I want this to look nice and to enjoy it I need to do the work. Just as in Alanon learning the 12 steps and all it has to offer. “Listen and Learn” I went to the pet store and asked questions on my new project. Getting info that could guide me to a good start. I also had to" listen and learn" at my meetings to have a new beginning. There are many things to prepare for an aquarium as well as with me. Patience I need patience to not get fish to soon the water needs to sit and it also needs to be warm. That is where I relate to compation.Even though I may not like what others say or do. I need to understand they are sick with a dease as well as I have effects also. So not only compaction for others but for me. “Let it begin with me“. Once my water is full in my aquarium I also am getting full from the love and support of others in the program. I read something about looking for curtain things in fish at store before buying ,like if they are blotted and so forth. Also need to "Easy Does it for me". Yes I want it all done now my aquarium, but it takes time and work just like Alanon has taught me. “First Things First“…I can not put fish in cold water of course they would die. I also can not overwhelm my self taking "one day at a time" will give me not only a wonderful aquarium But put things in perspective in my life. An aquarium gives me a calm peaceful feeling with serenity. That is also the reward from Alanon.Things can go wrong in projects as well as in me but the slogan "This too shall pass" pops in mind. So easy does it is a reward if I take my time.” Serenity Prayer” God grant me the Serenity(my aquarium)to accept the things I can not change(being finished in a day *wink)Courage to change the things I can( taking on a big project for me)Wisdom to know the difference.(That all things fall in place in time) Amen

Thanks so much for this post. It is exactly what I needed to hear right now. Now I can stop obsessing, lol! Easy Does It and One Day At a Time. The program is starting to "click" with me finally and I want recovery to come NOW, for me and my family. I would read and read, but it seemed like nothing was getting through. I can see now though that I was learning, maybe not as fast as I would like. I need to pray for patience.
