The Dilemma of the Alcoholic Marriage

I just finished reading this book by the Al-Anon Family Groups and for me personally this book has been a gift of wisdom and discernment for many of the "dilemmas" in my marriage to an A.

I was not sure that AL-Anon would be of help to me personally but this program really is helping me to focus on solutions I can try to make my life and our marriage better whether my AH stops drinking or not. If anyone is new to this program and married to an Acoholic Spouse, this would be one of the first books I would recommend to them. It has helped me understand so much about my AH and the way his mind works. It has also helped me to see that many of my reactions to his actions have definitely at times added fuel to the fire instead of quenching it.

I'm thankful my HP led me here and thankful too for all the wonderful tools, etc. that are helping bring healing and wholeness to me these days.

I really got a lot of good information from this book also.  Helps with a lot of issues that I am still sometimes at a loss to know which way to go.

I agree--this book was a revelation for me!!  I highly recommend it to anyone in a relationship with an A (sober or not).

I have this book as well.  I love it and sometimes refer back to it.  What I loved was it broke down the issues that can happen in an Alcoholic marriage in the simplest of terms.  Your post reminded me that maybe I need to puruse the pages again to refresh my memory.

Peace,
Twinmom~

I didn't read the book cover to cover, but used it for reference and found it very useful. And I think it's great for all marriages, even the "healthy" ones LOL!
