The accused reportedly stopped for a sandwich after his accomplice drove off without him.
I've learned that one way of telling that recovery is happening is to look for the presence of humor and...here it is.
My imagination also took over and said, "So the get-a-way vehicle wasn't the car, right?" It also asked, "So if he didn't have the wheel chair would he have "hopped" over to get a sandwich?"

ps. further thought...if he was unarmed also how did he hold on to the one leg? This gets more confusing as I consider the picture.
OMG Y'ALL - THIS TOTALLY DID HAPPEN. I LIVE RIGHT HERE IN MIDLOTHIAN, VA WHERE THIS GUY ROBBED THE SUNTRUST BANK THAT MY WORK BANKS WITH. WHEN HE GOT OUTSIDE THE BANK, THE DYE PACKED EXPLODED AND THE GUY IN THE GET AWAY CAR FREAKED OUT AND DROVE OFF, LEAVING THE GUY IN THE WHEEL CHAIR STRANDED. NOW THIS GUY MANAGED TO WHEEL HIMSELF A PRETTY GOOD DISTANCE BEFORE GIVING UP THE RUN. THE COPS FOUND HIM IN FRONT OF A STORE, CRYING.
NOW HOW DESPERATE DO YOU THINK THIS GUY HAD TO BE TO ROB A BANK IN A WHEEL CHAIR? SO SAD.
