What a miracle looks like, sounds like and is....

Aloha Kakahiaka (good morning) Ohana (family)   I just took one of my grand-daughters to school.  She slept over last night and then showered and prepared to her classes.  This beautiful miracle is 17 years old and in college culinary classes and it is so much a blessing to be just a small part of the process.  Of course she is pretty and of course, like her elder sister she has grace...much grace.  She is truly a gift and we never hesitate or refuse opportunities to participate in her journey.  It is as much enlightening as it is fun.  Her Dad never completed his education and practice of drug addiction; quitting when he was 18 and telling me how horrified it was as it took over his life.   Thank your God.  His older brother is struggling to keep his head on straight and to stay clean and sober.  He is on another sober run and it never ceases to amaze me what life is like when the chemicals leave.

Anyhow our grand-daughter was attired in her black kitchen trousers and very white jacket complete with kitchen logo  and her hair properly arranged so as not to accidently add strand seasoning to the menu and her smile and bag of "professional" cooking utensils (LOL) and her books and then her Grampa who drove her to classes.  This is as clean and sober as it gets for us when younger generations do life without creating anxiety.

And to add to this...the frosting...they are sooooo huggable.  Wow I feel dizzy. They are living the life I thought I would live and didn't because of our disease.  Awesome.  Best wishes to all.   (((((hugs))))) biggrin

Thanks so much for the share Jerry! The grace with which you talk of her gave me a clear visual of your unconditional love and pure joy to see her grow up. I did get a chuckle about the hair - I still have long hair and anytime I approach the kitchen, It's tied up/back/clearly out of the way - hair in food is surely never on the menu...

Grateful to have you as a part of my journey. Our birthday is fast approaching brother from another mother!!! ;)

I am happy that you all have felt at least some of the joy my wife and I have felt and by no means is this angel the center of all happiness in the family.  There are other grands and great grands who make life more blessed than we could ever have imagined.  Sad that the incidences of alcoholism and drug addiction over power what we enjoy here with these.  I am trying to find where and how we can openly support this condition with the others without diminishing the values of the others.

I defer to the 3rd step prayer, "God I offer myself to thee to build with me and do with me as thou will. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I might better do thy will.  Take away my difficulties that victory over them might be witness to those I might help of thy power, thy love and thy way of life...may I do thy will always."

Or the short version as my HP has requested I use, "Place me where you want me...tell me what to do".  My HP doesn't like my long windedness.   ((((hugs)))) aww
