The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
Hi everyone, I've never been to Al-Anon before but sober in AA 6mos. I have a dilema: My brother-in-law, who lives w/my 2 nephews (9&11) is drinking again. The kid's behavior is totally out of control, and I know there is nothing I can do about it. I do believe, however, Alateen can help them. The Problem: They live in Ohio, I live in Florida, and there are a lot of tangled family webs involved here. Would sending info be a good idea?

Just a question that might help you with this...Is it more important to find help for the kids or to stay out of a messy situation? Whatever choice you make, make sure you know why you made it and stick by it. I think that giving information to the kids might be helpful. They're young and I'm sure really confused.
Guess I forgot to mention that my sister, the kids mom, committed suicide in 1996 in front of the youngest boy, and he has a LOT of problems dealing with anger issues, etc....

Hi - You have a very heartbreaking situation. My prayers are with you.
Your Higher Power will guide you in your decision - If you feel it might help to send literature, I see no harm in it. Perhaps you could research a bit and add a local contact number. Sometimes the local AA number has it available.
My heart and prayers go out for the kids and for you.
It sounds like those poor children are living with a lot of turmoil. When dealing with kids, and I have six of them, I have always felt information and honesty are never a bad thing. Sending them literature doesn't seem like it would be stepping on anyones toes, and could help the kids.
