Songs by The Eagles and how I see them today

Awhile ago a member started a post about lyrics and a few responses said that they felt The Eagles wrote a lot about recovery or as I see the lack thereof. These are a few of their songs (I had to chuckle!)

Take It Easy

Already Gone

Tequila Sunrise

Witchy Woman

Outlaw Man

Peaceful Easy Feeling

Wasted Time

I Cant Tell You Why

Lyin Eyes

Desperado

Love Will Keep Us Alive

Take It To The Limit

Get Over It

Life In The Fast Lane

To me I can see pre and some post recovery in here. And No, Witchy Woman means nothing to me  ignore.gifrofl.gif

Tracey (who is simply, taking it easy)

Love it ((((Tracey))))

I have to add a newer Eagles song I heard Joe Walsh sing on their Farewell I tour...

One Day at a Time!

Maybe some of those older rockers are ready for recovery!!!  smile

Cant stand it!! lol...gotta add these too by the eagles or their solo efforts:

The Long Run (yep, it sure was!)
One of these Nights (like one of these nights I will quit, just not tonight!)
No More Cloudy Days  (yay, the fog of denial has lifted!)
Hole in the World (that we try to fill with alcohol, drugs, people, sex, etc!)
Walk Away! (hey we don't give advice in al-anon, dudes!)biggrin
Life's Been Good (since I got into recovery..woohoo!)
Funk #49 (shoot, amatuer!  I was up in the thousands of funks!)
Heartache Tonight (oh yeah baby...many many nights!)
Rocky Mountain Way (cuz it makes me think of rocky mountain high, john denver...high!.. you get the picture!) lol
All She Wants to do is Dance (special for me, cuz when the ex was drunk..that song was soooooo true!..."She wants to party, she want's to get down" hehe)

Yours Still in Recovery,
Davidbiggrin

((((tea)))

I can remember tears falling over "I can't tell you why"
And "Time for me to fly" too..more then once.

Today, I can appreciate songs like John Lennon's "Starting Over"

Our life together is so precious together
We have grown, we have grown
Although our love is still special
Let's take a chance and fly away somewhere
Starting over

And this verse from "Bless The Broken Road", Rascal Flatts

I think about the years I spent just passing through
I'd like to have the time I lost and give it back to you
But you just smile and take my hand
You've been there you understand
It's all part of a grander plan that is coming true

*sniff*..I'm gettin all weepy..lol I just took hubby back to the airport early this morning. Damn! I miss that man and I so respect him for what he has become and conquered. I still can't believe how ironic it is that I waited 20 yrs for him to get sober and he finally did it....but now he lives in Alaska..LOL!! A gazillion miles away. What are the friggin odds?
It's been a real blessing for him/us though. ( I keep telling myself that).
The count down is on. I'm heading that way in 25 days.

*Gimme a ticket for an airplane, ain't got time to take a fast train*
(Now I'm showing my age) hehe

Nothing wrong with a Witchy Woman if you listen to it in the context of Frank Sinatra's "Witchcraft".

And yes...I'm only 40.  lol
