Some good stuff- and some aha moments...

Hi y'all,

Last night I chaired a meeting in a neighbouring town. I am doing my 12th Step and was asked to take my turn at sharing...

it worked out well. I have a group culture which came from my home town here. Our group is in recess. Our culture was that we had a difference chair every week. If the chair wanted to change something they could. This was mostly around the format of the meeting.

it is up to the next chair, and other members to pick up, or leave an new development

We took readings from ODAT and Courage to change- and I invited discussion on the topics... and then we shared our week. We had two visiting members from small towns 40 mins away.

One side issue was that our daughter was in the building too- and was surprised to see me there. She is a worker for budget advice. I was happy for her to see me there. And we were doing stuff in two adjacent rooms.

I always like to see and hear feedback from members here, on MIP Alanon... so now it is my turn smile ...

thanks for the share...

-D.

Thank you David ,
Love your shares,
It can be challenging for me when working my steps and applying the steps to my everyday life situations,
It's progress we seek after, not perfection.

I call that getting blessings David and part of the blessing is how I respond to it which wouldn't happen when the disease was raging.  I love posts about how the fellowship interreacts because that is how we work it right and well.   Mahalo  (((hugs))) biggrin

Thanks y'all... aww...

aww I went again tonight... to support the chair and the meeting; but essentially for myself. I used to go to this meeting once or twice a year... ad i was alway a minute or two late in. Now I am always ten minutes early...

...I used to be a smart-arse and had the answer to everything. biggrin ... but I don't have the answer to this... ...I have had big gains on this MIP Alanon group- essentially because this group draws from members all over the world. The combined ESH is actually really powerful.

I don't really want to use the word "distill", but I shall... yes ah kin distill this experience and run it through a F2F group- I show a lot more discipline sharing that ah ever could.

Not sure where all the empathy is coming from- but it is coming from 'the room'. aww ...

thanks.

Glad you are finding new freedoms in local meetings David! I agree - recovery is a process. One of my Aha moments is with the daily readers! Every time I read them, I find something different or new in them and I've been reading them for a long, long while. Open minds keep learning. Open hearts keep loving. Growth is the greatest gift of recovery - thanks for sharing!

I'm glad you are enjoying your experience at your f2f meeting. I think we're a bit ahead of the curve here at MIP biggrin I agree with you, we really benefit from hearing all the Alanon best practices so to speak from people all over the world. Nice you are taking it to your meeting and it's adding to your in person Alanon experience. I'm glad you keep coming back to share your experience, stength and hope. (((hugs))) TT
