Courage to Change August 8 2018

Hello MIP!

In today's reading in Courage to Change, the author reflects on step 6: Were entirely ready to have HP remove these defects of character.

The author shares that they worried whether there would be anything left of themselves if they let go of the defects of character, but decided that they were ready because they wanted to change. The author found solace in the knowledge that, in step 6, nothing needs to be changed, one only needs to prepare for change.

Today's reminder: I need not judge the rate at which I change old habits or ways of thinking. If I am uncomfortable with old behavior, then on some level I am already moving toward changing it. Change will not be effective unless I am ready for it. I need only trust that, when the time comes to move forward, I will know it.

Today's Quote: "Remind me each day that the race is not always to the swift; that there is more to life than increasing its speed. Let me look upward into the towering oak and know that it grew great and strong because it grew slowly"

-------

I like today's reading because it reminds me to slow down. I tend to rush from one thing to the next, and can get frustrated with myself when i feel that i am not progressing fast enough.

I've found that real progress happens when i slow down, show up, and let things develop in their own time.

Foggy today, one of my favorite kinds of weather! Hope you make today great!

Great reminder Skorpi reinforcing the fact that recovery is a process and that keeping an open mind and practicing these princioles one day at a time is all that is necessary.
Love the fact that Step 6 only asks that we become ready i know that i became redy to shed my defects when i saw them in action and realized how destructive they were. I saw how they hurt me and in no way helped me live my life . I am so happy that I kept coming back
Thanks for your service and that your day is great

Thanks Skorpi and Betty. When I honestly look at myself I see that I cycle through being angry and unwilling to let go of the anger towards my A, and then my Alanon tools kick in and I let go and let God. That is such a relief. I hope to reach a point where I am ready to let go of this cycle, and just settle in on "ready" to feel better and be at peace. I have faith I will get there, Lyne

Greetings all - thank you Skorpi for your service and the daily. Thanks also to you and others for your shares and ESH. I too like today's reading as it reminds me to just keep moving forward, even when it feels there are set backs. I am grateful to be free of perfection and content that progress is all that we strive for!

Happy Hump Day to all - hope it's been a good one!
