CTC,,,,July 14

The C2C reading for July 14 speaks about the burden of guilt and how making amends offers-a great release from it. The reading suggests that we often do not like facing the harm that we have done in  the past and so, without knowing it.,we carry the goats with us. By having the courage to look at the past, own our part and make amends,we can put the past behind us and move on with a clear conscience .  Our self-esteem, as a resul tincreases , and feel better about ourselves;

The reading suggests making  amends for  the past and moving on , we  must forgive ourselves for the harm that we caused and learn from the mistakes.

SO then although we Cannot make past wrongs disappear,t we can take action that will help us to let them go and make amends. "We can try to correct the situation and leave it  in the past  where it belongs.

Quote is from"The Dilemma of the Alcoholic Marriage; "let me remember that the reason for making amends is to free my mind of uneasiness"

I have experienced the release of making amends recently, and I recommend this process to everyone...........LU

Good Morning LU love this reminder In the beginning of this journey. making amends seemed very impossible to me Continuing to attend meetings and embracing the slogans and steps allowed me to make amends for past wrongs and feel the freedom of which you and the reading speak. So very grateful for this tool.

Thanks for your service.

Thank you LU for the daily and your service. Thanks also to you and Betty for your shares and ESH. It took me a while to 'see' my part in things as I was in denial about so much....working the steps, including the amends process has truly freed me from the past - the pain, resentments, etc. Part of my amends process was to forgive self and others for the past, focus on learning and growing instead of feeding the ghosts.

Happy Saturday to all - it's raining here....a welcome change from recent weather. Make it a great day!!

I'm currently writing my resentments out and my anger out on paper. It has not been easy because though these things are on my mind but to see then written out scares me. Why do I hold onto these things so tightly. I think at the bottom of the barrel I know that holding onto these things are the stones of not letting me move forward but at the same time its my thought process and that in itself is hard to change. I've changed so much since I started the program but I know I can't rush anything and I have to move at a pace that's comfortable and rushing misses things I don't want to do that.

Thank you LU for posting this today! I used it as a "teaching tool" with my son this morning... kind of like, "See, Al-Anon helps you to move forward... Thursday was just a blip on your screen, you and I can use these tools and move forward from this, so that day will be just a memory."

Peace!
