Courage to Change reading 12-2-2017

Today's reading in the C2C speaks about the very important. Slogan; "Let it begin with me". The reading goes on to state that sometimes we are so focused on others, evaluating, judging, critiquing them for their  negative traits that we forget to focus on ourselves.

. The reading suggests that  we can easily apply this slogan to our everyday life. by keeping the focus on ourselves, looking with honesty and detachment at our inner thoughts and feelings, so we can discover many of our habits of thinking and doing that are hurting us as we move through the day

It alos suggests that  if we focus on other people,  judging, and  blaming them harshly we have not only  taken the focus of ourselves, but have placed ourselves as judge and jury of others.  If we turn our attention to ourselves we might discover that we are guilty of the same negative traits that we are judging others for having.

That is when  the Slogan"Let it begin with me" works best.  We can stop and  instead of pointing fingers at others, we can pick up an Al-Anon tool to help us move through the day  using  Al-Anon principles.

Going Christmas shopping a few minutes to have a grand Saturday

Thank you, Betty for your service and your ESH.
I LOVE this slogan, because I feel that everyone (whether in Al-Anon or not) could embrace this slogan. In fact if everyone kept this in their pocket to pull out when the need arises, this world would be a better place!

Enjoy your Christmas shopping!

Hi, and I must agree, that the world would be a much better place if each individual focused on herself. I think it's similar to the Golden Rule: treat others as you wish to be treated. I believe also that everyone could use the 12 steps and I wish many alanon tools were taught in high school. That will never happen, but I can wish for anything I want! Lyne

Mahalo Betty  That is a SCORE!! share for me also because self focus for the right purpose; self healing will take one of the most craziest perpetrators out of the problem...ME!!  I use to think I was "THE solution to the problems of the world" and then....NOT!!"  My sponsors and the fellowship are still   the best solutions to my problems when I stand before them and ask,  "What do you think" and then remain to hear the solutions.  Progress not perfection.   Thanks again...I will now go out to my morning meeting and to practice, practice, practice.   ((((hugs)))) wink

Thanks Betty for your service and the daily. Thanks all for your ESH. I too agree - this is an awesome, simple slogan that helps me remember that taking the high road isn't weak but is handling 'life' with grace and dignity. I've been to my morning meeting already and am planning to do a bit of relaxing today. It's been a busy, busy week! Enjoy this day all - thanks for being part of my journey!

((((((((((((((Betty))))))))))))  As usual!!  awesome share and your ESH on it......this slogan really freed me from being so CoDa and enabled me to "legally"  yea, I can work on ME and I don't have to be obsessed with others, giving myself up for the needs/acceptance of another......I used this slogan all the time...Keep the focus on me...Let it begin with me...had it not been for the "let it begin with me" , I may not have reconcilled with my deceased sister whom I discovered so much love with those last 2 years........thanks for your service.....
