the 12 step prayer book--the 4 A's

This little book is the "12 steps prayer book"  and today , it  goes into the 4 "A's" of recovery...Acceptance, Awareness, Action and Attitude and it talks about going into my inventory and reminding myself that I am only human...I have limitations...I am not the HP or Universal power....it calls for me to pray or meditate on the admitting my limitations and that it is OK to shoot for progress and not spiritual perfection.. It talks about living within my limitations..and doing the best I can with limitations, yes, but also my capabilities...

**************************

As one who doesn't really pray , the conventional way,  like I look within for my HP,  yea, this resonated....to ACCEPT is my biggest thing...I cannot change what I don't acknowledge and accept.......Just saying.....

for me, I think the order would have been to be Aware..then to accept..then my attitude would be better, hence the better action.......Just my take, Happy Friday everyone!!!!

Hi Rose love this post--- Thanks.   I found that my attitude changed drastically when i implemented alanon tools. When I began to live one day at time, trusting HP and not not judging, blaming or gossiping, I found the joy , happiness and wonder in my day.

I had tried for many years to change my attitudes and found that I could not simply wave a magic wand and change my attitude, I needed constructive alanon tools to do so.   The Steps and Slogans were the magic wand I needed

The acceptance and awareness were very difficult for me. I was supposed to accept that my A would continue drinking until she might or might not feel like getting help, and I had to develop awareness that I too had become sick. I wanted Alanon to teach me how to fix her, as all my efforts had failed. It took a year or more for me to accomplish the acceptance and awareness. Once I accomplished those two steps, action and attitude easily followed. There is nothing easy about this program, but it certainly has been worth all my hard work! Lyne

the 4th step grows more acceptance inside us of life on life's terms; us too .. acceptance was always vague for me .. was never really sure what it meant .. when i did mine i finally began to see this is where i just sit (without blaming .. without judging ... without excusing or justifying) with my behavior .. others yep but mainly what i resented myself for with others .. but i could not do this step alone .. because then i would Only have my own confused thinking to reason with .. sharing with another on the 5th step who understood the steps was absolutely necessary for me .. this was my first 4th ..

now i am in another 4th and seriously worried the sponsor i work with will not be available for me .. i have a fear of this Because the fear is Real .. it's happened before .. So seriously hoping hp will work inside us both and continue to give her the wilingness to work through it with me .. i would rather not switch sponsors when i am at the level of honesty inside me i am .. it's a humbling process But every step is Ego removing .. hoping for the best .. wishing the best for you too up there ..
